horsey's previous thread is here.....

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=59189.0

Sadly, due to some quite dreadful real life issues he had to quit the thread & move home to look after his Mum, who became very ill.

He has been incredibly helpful & supportive to me, personally, & so I hope this thread, with horsey & a few other experts chipping in, will be a success.

Knowing nothing about horses but being bored on betfair, I saw that the 1/10 favourite had not raced for a year so I laid £10 Cheesy.

Bookies got hammered on Hughes double last night Midnite Angel and Thunder Strike

Returned 2.41 but Hughes told Mat Chapman they would be bitterly disappointed if they got turned over.

Tuesday 21st May

Like two so far today

5.00 Newcastle

ALMOST GEMINI 1PT WIN 4/1 (general) (non runner)

MASON HINDMARSH 2PTS WIN 16-1 (coral or sportingbet)

result non runner and unplaced at 10-1

This is a poor race and although there is no doubt Mason was lucky to win last time (clear leader dropped hands) it still showed the horse was coming into form and has been treated by the handicapper as finishing 3rd (raised a 1lb). Usually improves with racing so should be another good performance from this mark.

Has a low draw and prominent running style at a speed-favoring track as well.

It looks like an over-reaction to it being a lucky winner last time, and therefore it was somehow a 'fluke'.  If it'd finished 2nd beaten 2 lengths it'd be 8/1 here and in my tissue is around 10-1.

Almost Gemini i do not particularly like as an animal so far but was clear fav in my tissue (about 5-2) is unexposed after two narrow wins on the all weather when well backed both times.

Looks very quirky but crucially did battle on well last time in the end. It has a good running style for this race and a good draw.

result dead heat 3rd 25-1

A few positives here,

Showed first sign of ability last time in a seller. The formbook states will need to show improvement from that into a handicap. I could not disagree more this is a glorified seller with a bunch of market leaders out of form or running after wins in even worse contests last time.

Ran last time as if this trip will be ideal (tired late on after travelling fine) and also its action suggests the soft ground today will be a help (backed up by the pedigree of indian haven)

Ok the trainer hardly knocks them in for fun but is in some kind of form of late and the horse has a good draw. At 20-1 enough positives in a shocking race.

Spooky timing horsey, was just thinking this morning that we needed a specialist horseracering thread.

Re: Memory Cloth, 4-1 tight enough now? Was 8-1 with Ladbrokes last night.

One of my list horses runs on Tuesday, Arc Light 4.00 Newcastle. Oi oi!
