Labour's NEC will decide which legal advice to go with... ££££ for lawyers. Precedent from 88 is with needing incumbent needing nominations

some labour party stuff follows

there are two legal interpretations on whether corbyn can get on a new election ballot automatically (in which case they can't get rid of him, as the membership re-elects him) or if he needs to be nominated (in which case he might not get the nominations to get on the ballot)

the NEC has to decide which legal view to go with. if they go with the latter, corbyn can challenge in the high court, or the PLPcan challenge the former in the high court

a big mess

If Labour are going to challenge him, they have to let him stand, they would face the wrath of several million die hard supporters otherwise (all no doubt already powered up by kale and chai lattes, brandishing rolled up issues of the Guardian as batons etc).

the johnson article is an interesting one

his position is Johnson wants single market access, EU freedom of movement for Brits - but controls for non-Brits coming to UK.

a starting negotiating position i suppose
