May is the latest person to use 'one nation Conservatism' as a phrase.
Can someone please explain what this actually is supposed to be, as I can't think of any party which historically divides opinon quite like they do. Where exactly is this one nation they speak of, because I've never lived in it?
It may become my second most hated political phrase behind 'Red Tory'.
Its been around since disraeli, the centre-right politics of the tories as compared to the eurosceptic/harder line monetarism/ thatcherism
in the 1980s would have been known as "tory wets". Pro Europe too.
i dare say many will say britain is divided and the have nots are more "have not" than ever, but i do maintain that the situation is not as harsh as it might be under the tory right wing.
FWIW, which is not a lot, i fell out a touch with my MP at the time (Nadine Dorries) when i was active in politics a bit more than i am now because she described me as too wet when she was supporting one candidate (IDS, lethal man) and i was suggesting she support another back in the day ! :-)
as i said a few (about 50) pages ago i wouldn't have supported boris and was contemplating the Lib Dems if a "one nationer" didn't win
