well done all. Mostly without rancour, which is good

been a momentous 9 months in UK and global politics

I was at a poker event this weekend and i lost count (ok, more than 5,less than 10) of people who i never knew read it who said

"that politics thread, really good. I don't know enough about it to post but its really helped"

so to those guys. hello, nice seeing you. come on in, the water's warm. we don't bite (well a couple of people do but we'll look after you)

The state of UK politics part one.

Jeremy Corbyn today said that a figure of £70bn for the total cost in lost revenue from upcoming Tory tax cuts was not a figure that he recognised. The figure came from his own shadow business secretary on the Andrew Marr show yesterday.

The state of UK politics part two.

On Sky News yesterday Liam Fox denied sending a tweet about Brexit despite the fact it was up on the big screen behind him.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/13/liam-fox-denies-sending-controversial-tweet-sitting-front/

And yet over half of Scots still want to be run by these clowns.

its a twice in a generation opportunity

Sturgeon will seek approval to hold independence referendum next week, wants vote to take place between Autumn 2018 and Spring 2019

unable to answer if indyref2 means Scotland stays in EU or seamlessly re-enters yet but has 18 months to sort that out.

UK Govt guidance on Section 30: Scottish Government can initiate, but must pass through Commons and Lords as well as Holyrood

so this will be fun.

with the greens she gets it through holyrood next week

then May tries to delay it?

and what do the EU do about accession/re-accession? (and scotland wants to leave the market where 64% of its exports go to)

meanwhile Corbyn is agnostic/not a blocker of it

and we are not sure what Unionist EU leavers are going argue on it, given it was identified as a big risk by "project fear"
