this is an advancement on our strategies talk yesterday

"Johnson's strategy now is "the best way to avoid an election is to show that you would win one""

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9595497/boris-johnson-brexit-strategy-opinion/

a very very good read indeed

this was a fun leak yesterday

JRM  issues new style guide to his staff demanding male MPs are called Esq, the use of imperial measurements and which words are banned (but not 'not fit for purpose')

https://www.itv.com/news/2019-07-26/itv-news-exclusive-jacob-rees-mogg-issues-style-guide-to-staff/

of his "banned words" it was later revealed that RM had used them himself in speeches and articles 2,291 times

Donald Tusk "don't waste this time!" comes to mind

97 days to no deal

One of my Uni lecturers had a list of banned words. I kicked off big time, too much in hindsight (young and foolish). In terms of JRM’s list, I also don’t like ‘very’ (I might have another go at stopping using it) but strongly disagree with banning words.

I wonder why he's waiting until the end of the holidays to resign?

I don’t think he can resign while Parliament is in recess.

I guess we’ll never know but I think the actions of people in situations as dire as his appears to be, often seem irrational and nonsensical.

I wondered whether it was so that he could get a few weeks more wages, no questions asked.

He can pick up wages until the general election if he wants to.

Even if he resigns, or is that when he would be thrown out?

If he didn't resign, he could have hung around picking up wages until the election.   Not doing the work you were elected to do isn't grounds for removal, as Nigel Farage learned years ago.  Though possibly some of Farage's voters are happy that he does nothing other than rock up every few weeks to have a dig.
