I disagree. The AOA chip isn't going to be worth much. I can see myself using it for either a defensive injury crisis or not bothering to use it at all. This guy has decided to build a team specifically designed for it (i.e. 8 decent attacking options and a very cheap defence), and he'll adjust it this week. Sure, it didn't work out as the players disappointed, but all 8 of them could have conceivably scored well.

But how can it be a good tactic to play it when you've little idea who is going to start and zero idea who is in form (pre-season friendlies/europa league seems to count for 0)?

How can he possibly justify playing it when he has nearly 40 more gameweeks in which he could have used it more advantageously...?

I'm in agreement with Silk. It's virtually worthless that chip.
I would guess it's worth possibly 2 points? It could possibly cost you points when you play it.
It was a decent use of it, quite clever actually. Certainly not a fish move. Like Silk says, I have no plans for that chip and may never use it. At least he planned something for it and it was a fairly aggressive move.
How can he justify it? Coz as Silk said, he specifically planned to play it and will immediately readjust his team.
Basically the best time to use it is when your team is set up for it or when you have a defensive crisis.
You may never have a defensive crisis that this chip specifically addresses.
You will however have 2 wildcards where you can set up the team with 8 attacking players which is perfect for this chip. The other time that is akin to a wildcard is GW1. This is what he chose.

Both GKs played though right? It's defender Taylor who didn't.

Yep. you're right about the GKs.

One thing that doesn't show, and is a common mistake in people's initial teams, is that they don't have any £ in the bank to trade up one of their sh!tters (in one transfer) if required. Most people are so obsessed with spending every penny that they don't appreciate that spotting/buying in the bargains is a crucial element in this game.

It is a valid option leaving money in the bank for the purpose you have described.
But I certainly wouldn't consider it a mistake not doing it. Most of the top players do not do it.

Sorry, I'm not picking an argument, I just don't agree with you on either point Sad

Thanks for the posts Dazzler (especially the one above).  On reflection I see your (and silkworms) point and what you mean about GW 1 for this chip.  Cheers for that I learned a bit from your post.

Hi Everyone,

A record breaking year this year for the Blonde FPL. Across the paid leagues we had a total of 56 entries, which is a few up on last year and we smashed the amount collected!

There is a total of £3,465 in prizes to be paid out across all leagues and with us having more leagues this year, it should see a larger variety of prize winners.

We will publish the prizes for each league soon, as The Dazzler and I are just working it out before publishing.  Tom will also publish details of the Cup formats this year for the added money.

If anyone has any last minute thoughts on prize distribution, please post but its likely there will be roughly 10-15% of each league field paid out. We could go flatter and get closer to 20% which will probably give an extra place in each league but reduce the size of the top prize.

Good luck for the rest of the season!

I would prefer more places paid, it gives more people a sweat. That being said I wouldn't go to 20%,  about 15% sounds good to me.

Hey no worries Dazzler, didn't come across that way anyway. All views/opinions are welcome!

I'd prefer a flatter payout TBH.

Can we make the £100 league just two prizes?  You are paying 27% of the field with three.  Also just money back is no fun and its the premier competition!

Well that one was right on the cut off. At 10 runners, it would be 2 places, at 11, I thought in the interest of flatter payouts all round, we'd give the money back spot.
Happy to put it to a vote?
I vote 3 spots, Jez votes 2.

The 26th player is just the 'average' score to get an even number of players. It would be interesting if 'he' made the money!

I'd probably rather just pay top three, seems a bit too flat that in my opinion.

I have no strong preference between 2 or 3 paid in the £100 league.

Ah here, you can't do that. It's 11 people, we can't have abstentions! Smiley
