yesterday was a solid performance

To give him his due,Mahrez was on it, really put a shift in with great skills too.

Maguire is an excellent signing too, left sided, can play it with a really good range ofpassing and a big solid unit. Cmpletely different proposition to watching Morgan heart in mouth when trying to trap the ball

Vardy's ankle injury is a concern as Ihenacho had to see a specialist on friday about his toe too

As for Brighton, oh dear. wouldn't have scored if they were still playing now. Absolutely no threat. first shot on target after 72minutes. no xG

they also suffer what i remember seeing from us when we went up. try and play from the back but they haven't got the time they had in the championship

the goalkeeper isn't a great distributor either, and looks tiny and was at fault for the first goal

squad needs major investment to compete at this level.
Brighton are poor and were my main pick for relegation this season.
I saw a few of their games second half of the season and they were average at best, not saying much when playing in the championship.
Squad needed a major overhaul but it hasn't come, perhaps they will play it sensible and take the prem money, then rebuild next season

Chelsea and Leicester are in a £40m stand-off over Danny Drinkwater

(please take that sort of money)

Happy with last night, Tighty?

Have to say, despite the scoreline, I really liked the way Sheff Utd went about their work. They look a tidy unit to me, working for each other.

Sheffield United should have a good couple of years

they have sell on money from Maguire and (especially) Walker coming and i think are more stableoff the pitch than they were

couple of good young players,Brooks and the keeper for example

Don't think too many of ours advanced their case for the first team but Gray, Chilwell and Slimani were the best of them.

I like Slimani. Not aesthetically pleasing but create chances for him and his finishing is very good. I hope he stays.

Offers more than Ulloa who they want to sign a new contract (which i don't understand)

There are rumours of a swap deal of Townsend to Leicester and Gray + £10 million to Palace.

I have only seen a few Gray appearances but I have to say if that deal went through I would be over the moon as a Palace supporter.
Townsend gives one good performance in 3/4 matches, sometimes his workrate leaves a lot to be desired (other days like Saturday he is like a man possessed!) but his end product is simply not good enough.

Why are Leicester happy to let Gray go, he seems to have a lot of potential and is highly rated by most Leicester fans.................problems with his attitude maybe??

the suggestion was we wanted to pay £27m for Townsend.I went for a lie down.

Demarai is a great natural talent. great going forward on his day

the drawbacks on the field were seen at old trafford in his 30 minutes at the weekend

lazy, not to keen on helping his full backs and not a huge fan of passing to his team mates, would rather beat the fourth man. We've been waiting for his game to be a bit more rounded and its been a bit chicken and egg...he can't develop without the game time but the drawbacks are why he doesn't get the game time

off the field it is said he has an attitude, quite surly. You only need to follow his instagram videos to see the attitude, its there in abundance.

i would rather not lose him, especially if Mahrez goes i would like to see him start and we'll take the growing pains, but i guess its how patient the management want to be/whether they think he will mature

by the by we are also in for M Sakho,Delph and Krychowiak from PSG (once of sevilla, the midfielder)

by the by, with drinkwater, mahrez and maybe more off, its apparently been quite the scramble for replacements in time for tomorrow night

Fair play to Leicester.  They are rejected some serious money for plenty of their squad.  Turning down £25m for Gray from Bournemouth now.

So Drinkwater goes for £35mand Adrien Silva comes in as a direct replacement for £22m, all 20 portugal caps, champions league games and the rest of it

think that is good business on both parts of it.

Mahrez isn't happy, but the fact is the highest bid we received was £32m.Never selling him for that in this market, with 3 years left on his contract and i would like to think they would have banked £45m say but none of Roma, Barca,Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs etc the teams rumoured to be in for him, wanted to pay it

"Riyad Mahrez on collision course with Leicester after leaving Algeria squad to force a move on deadline day."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/31/riyad-mahrez-collision-course-leicester-city-trying-force-deadline/

the club has had some power here, its not a sanchez situation where he leaves on a free this summer

up to him now to play well and get a move in january though the risk is of course he does a VVD/Coutinho etc and downs tools

Would you say that Drinkwater is an upgrade on Matic - or is that transfer to untied one of life's great mysteries?

I wouldnt, no. There are suggestions that Costa wants an English core hence going for ox,drinkwater, Barkley etc. Drinkwater had his best season next to Kante, got in England squads etc and I understand the move for him and think it's a nice price for us. I wouldn't say he is up to matic though, which I agree selling to a rival was an odd one. Transformational for united in fact as it releases pogba to go forward as we have already seen

I agree. Matic looks rather scarily like the missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle.
