Like tighty suggests - if this run of results carried on to Xmas it would have been a foregone conclusion,  but to move this quickly makes us look a bit amateurish imho. The fiasco on deadline day suggests that our infrastructure (finance aside) is very weak and perhaps the owners need to have a clear out there first.

Please, no Sam, Moyes or Pardew - any of those three won’t even last until the end of late reg of Party!

Ted knows his onions:

https://statsbomb.com/2017/09/the-right-way-to-hire-football-coaches/

Really are two terrific articles.

Did Shakespeare lose the dressing room? That would seem like the ultimate irony, but presumably there is more to it, even then.

coming round to the view he was a bit unlucky

Leicester only behind Big 6 during Shakespeare reign

Spurs 53pts
M City 48
Chel 46
M Utd 41
Liv 40
Ars 38
Le'ster 29
Everton 28

lost 9 games in 28, Atletico, Arsenal x 2, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U, Everton, Man C,Spurs.that's it

badly let down by recruitment side and DOF

probably a great number 2 not a manager (in terms of tactics and flexibility)

Name i am hearing is Thomas Tuchel ex Dortmund

Tuchel would be a huge coup as I thought he was going to go to Bayern and seemed in the frame for Arsenal possibly if Wenger went. Has a really great reputation in Germany.

Claude Puel as short as 1/8 to get the Leicester gig.

A bit underwhelming at first glance

I trotted off to look at him and discovered

Lyon to the CL semis
Monaco won Ligue 1
8th last year for Suthampton and the LC final, then sacked

has a reputation for being pretty dour/defensive in style? Perhaps Mark Porter or ronside could give me some context.

being confirmed later

Puel's Southampton pressed very high but didn't usually strike quickly?

Be interesting to see how we adapt to each other, we don'thave the players to play possession and work it through. All about winning the ballunexpectedly and transitioning quickly on the counter (when it worked which isn't recently)

very defensive he got Saints playing possession football keep holding onto the ball looking for clear chances rather than running at defenders or making forward passes to create the chances
Saints havent got the right players for that type of game and the fans hated it when we dried up on the goal front and all the passes were going backwards and sideways

also rotated squad way too much there was no need to rotate when it came to FA cup time as we were safe in league and out of europe and FA cup was fans priority over league position

was unlucky to get the sack but i heard rumours he had lost the dressing room

Is it time to rename this thread similar to the Utd one?

Something snappy like the incredible rise and fall a love story gone wrong?

Nothing much has gone wrong. Anything can happen and it won't matter, still done the most incredible thing English football has seen for more than a generation. We will tinker on on here

I hope Puel does well, he deserves another chance.

There was a definite disconnect between fans and manager at Southampton. He was never very personable, didn't speak the language well so struggled to get ideas across to the local media in the longer form interviews. A defensive style, never really pressed in the way that we were used to under Koeman.

Immediate impressions after a year was just that stylistically, he wasn't ever going to be a good long term fit and he appeared quite one dimensional tactically. He probably quite rightfully felt hard done by though and is clearly intelligent and knows how to win games. Will be watching with interest.

Lots has gone wrong since and I wasn't debating whether it was an incredible feat.

I just find whats happened since even more incredible. Sacking Ranieri the year after winning the title (players getting greedy and falling out over contracts then seemingly not playing for him)

Snakespeare coming in after snaking Ranieri and saving them from near relegation.

Spending £150m+ since winning title and all seem to be duds making the club go backwards since before winning the title.

Then sacking Snakespeare and bringing in Puel who failed at his previous PL club, I find it amazing how the club have got it so wrong since winning.

On top of that the Tinker On name was with regards Ranieri's background so surely due an update, I'd been enjoying your puns/titles for other teams and thought this deserved a Tighty special name

For someone who is from Leicester? Lives in Leicester? Very odd attitude to your local team. Your interpretation is extremely negative and whilst clearly we haven't capitalised on our success in various areas, on and off field it's not exactly doom and gloom and won't be for a long long while even if we were to drop two divisions. This is my basic point, it won't really matter
