I think it’s more about not being judge and jury right now when, as you accepted in a post earlier this morning, there are “lots of unknowns for years”.

History will judge the success or failure of how this has been handled - not some Socialist who obsesses with a constant anti-Tory agenda.

I have developed a sensitivity over time for people who approach most aspects of life with a preset political agenda, & the last couple of months has only increased my distaste for that group.

I would be as pleased as anyone if we suddenly started handling this well*. It’s a strategy of a populist government to try and play to people’s preset political biases. We could talk about that for hours, maybe on a different thread though.

*For example if we keep scaling up testing at around the current rate and use those tests well, in a strategic way, that would be fantastic progress.

Hardcore supporters on both sides less so.

The thing that puzzles me most is how this group of otherwise intelligent people do not realise that if they take a consistent biased approach to every issue, the only people they are talking to is themselves, & people who are facing exactly the same way.

Yeah, agreed completely. The left, mostly behind the scenes, have never been more of a shambles (in my experience) than they are now. Bernie fans who won’t support Biden and Corbyn fans laying in to Starmer. If you stop and take an objective look at the people actually running the countries in a time of crisis, people shouldn’t be expending energy opposing Biden and Starmer.

The things that should unite all of us (the sensible ones) is opposition to the politics of populism, that marginalises discussion about policy and an opposition to all forms of dishonesty. Just because it’s a relevant and recent example, loads of what Johnson said I was completely untrue*, nobody expected anything different though, so it’s barely mentioned.
