I think the best way to dish out revenge is winning against anyone with great poker playing.

I for one will be reading more books and getting lessons from Tighty. Violence in not needed, skill and great poker playing is.

Before I really regret this thread as half of you get thrown out of casinos countrywide can we agree just to play great poker and win?Huh? After all this is a poker forum!

This was actually one of THREE incidents that we are aware of that happened over the two days, all happening in the Oriel Room at Brighton Casino involving Mr Patten.

The second was when he called the clock on Luke Smith (TheDoc) after under two minutes when he had to decide wether to call an all in holding pocket tens which he raised pre-flop and got one caller, with a queen on the flop against a player that had been on his table for over six hours. Luke (Doc) was clearing playing back through his mind other calls made by the player before making his decision. There were just two tables left at this stage, so the money was coming closer.......

Luke (Doc) was stunned by the call of the clock by Mr Platten and made his point VERY clear to Mr Platten who appoligised. His actually words were "I unreservedly appoligise"

The other incident is when he called a bloke a "Scouse ***"   The '***' is what the arguement was about - the player thought he said "git" while Mr Platten said he said 'bloke' or 'man', I can't remember.    I must say that that incident was incredibly well handled by the TD, Guy Young - she stepped in between them almost instantly, defused the situation as much as she could, and stayed standing between them until the other guy left, which was some time !

Luke (Doc) was speaking to Mr Pattens friend who travels with him, who said that Mr Pattens is "always upsetting people, but is the first to appoligise - its what he does - and it works for him."

Then of course there was the minor incident, that Tikay has already pointed out, of asking for Luke's (Doc) chip count while holding pocket aces before calling - this was on the final table with only seven left.

Both Luke and I didn't hear the abuse thrown at Tracy although we were in the room at the time at another table - and we suspect that if it had been heard then players WOULD of stood up to him. We spoke to Tracey the next morning as they were staying in the same hotel as us - she was clearly upset when she recalled the story.

It IS a shame of course that this happens in poker - or any sport - or in life for that matter. It is VERY difficult to overcome your emotions when this happens and of course probably ruins your tournement. Some people just don't learn.

Good luck in your next tournement Tracey - I hope you get his table again - it will be interesting !

I have to say I'm sorry I opened this can of worms now - I wanted to know if I was being sensitive - and thank you I realise I wasn't and I will speak up next time - I'm even looking forward to the next time just oi try it out.  Roll Eyes

I have to say in his defence he had definitely been drinking and that does make people do things they wouldn't normally. I don't know him apart from that day and I will always give people the benefit of the doubt - which is why I lay too many hands down!

If this was a behaviour that was constantly repeated then its definitely not good, if he got heated in the moment and lost control (however bad) and made a mistake which he regretted then it's water under the bridge.

I'm not going to allow anyone to waste my time (for too long) worrying about it - otherwise they have made a negative difference on my life, which is winning twice against me.

Everyone makes mistakes, as long as they learn by them, and I certainly have learnt something, then so be it unless it is repeated. I wasn't there for the second incident, I heard about it later, but if its all alcohol related then its something that may never be repeated. For the final he drank only water........well it looked like water! Smiley

Thank you for all the opinions, I have the courage to speak out now - i may play at Luton tonight just looking for trouble....guess I'll have to wait for the next time I play Walsall!

Way to go Tracey. I'm glad you are still able to show tolerance, too. Peeps do daft things when they are drunk, & as a non-drinker, I have to be careful it does not sound like sermonising. But yes, maybe drink was the cause. I hope so. It does not excuse it, but it's easier to understand.

Between them, drink & women are the cause of more than enough trouble. I vote we ban drink, & have twice as many women.

But Vinni's right. A cutting tongue is far better than a swift right hook.

i was refering to the thread in general.

i just dont believe anyone would of reacted with the severity that they have poported on this thread.

what a naughty thing to have said to a woman.

serious turn out or not i'm there to play poker and not knowing either of them if i'm honest i dont think i would've cared.

if he started clumping her or something i'd be the first one to jump in.
