It's interesting how each market works out. Last season Man United won on Betfair at 89+2, with Everton 1 behind on +27 and West Brom third.

Each bookie has set a different line on the handicap. Cardiff gets the thumbs up from me as do Norwich at +44.

With BetVictor please remember to bet each way as they've given Spurs a filthy +20 point handicap which was quickly smashed into 8 to 1 from 15's.

Hi Tighty.

Rooney is carrying a shoulder injury, he can run around kicking balls all day as long as he avoids any physical challenges.

Nothing is likely to change my view. Bale rumours have been going around for years now. Man United are the most loyal club in Europe, they keep hold of players for longer than any other club out there. They also payed £10mil+ on Zaha instead of masterminding a bid for Bale.  Now their squad is very balanced bar the need for a central midfielder.

Haha just saw BigAdz' post.

Sorry to interrupt your golf sweat guys but hopefully Fred is going to be feeling flush Wink

Suggested bet £70 on Rooney to stay at United this transfer window @ 2.2 with Unibet and 888. (I've backed it as low as 1.9)

The price on him to Chelsea is all wrong. Chelsea appear only half serious in their bid for him but have fully succeeded in upsetting the apple cart at Old Trafford. Also United cannot sell a top star to a domestic rival.

On a similar note I'd also take £40 on Bale to stay at Spurs whilst there's 3.0+ available on Betfair.

Morning Mr McGlashan.

We do badly in transfer markets, & with good reason - the bookies have almost always got access to better info than we have, & are a step ahead of us. We've never made money in such Markets, & we won't be having many bets, ever.

But.....

I love this bet, & I'll tell you why.

There are three hot transfer Markets at present - Bale, Suarez, & Rooney.

Bale

Mr Levy knows the value of money. Bale is the hottest available property in world football right now, or nearly so. Only the likes of Messi & Ronaldo would command more interesty. He is a true Trophy asset, in every sense. Spurs, with respect, are a "fringe" team in the Premier League. He will go, but we know not when.

Suarez

The smoke signals are confusing.

We will not sell him, do you hear us? We will ESPECIALLY not sell him to Arsenal.

How do you read that? See the conflict in those two statements? Seems pretty clear to me. He's available.

But when? No idea.

Rooney

Moyes seemed unequivical yesterday.

We are not selling him.

That was it. They don't need the money. Unlike Arsenal, they are happy to live on borrowed money, despite their fans bitching non-stop about the Glaziers.

They are the most successful side in England, arguably Europe.

So my money is on him staying at United.

Now comes the problem - I don't have accounts with 888 or Unibet. The best price I can get elsewhere 10/11, with Wm Hill.

So, at what price does this cease to be value?

If I can set up an account with 888 or Unibet I'll take the 2.2 if it is still there, but I don't really want to deposit money there only to find the price has gone.

Bear with me please, whilst I try & sort an Account, & get some of that 2.2.

If I can't, we have to decide if 10/11 is good enough. I think it is, but I loathe the thought of taking a worse price with Wm Hill than elsewhere.

Afternoon Tikay.

That 10/11 with Hills is now a stand out best price and worthy of an investment whilst it lasts. It's also a price I backed myself due to being restricted at firms who were offering better odds.

If Fred has a bad record in transfer dealings can we assume he has been backing these transfers to actually happen?

Interesting fact!

Valencia was given the number 7 shirt at the start of the season but looking at today he is now number 25 and has given number 7 up??

Does this mean the retune of the great one

No would be the short answer.

Tal and I touched upon the subject of transfer betting which is going to finish with me recommending a lump on Rooney to stay at Man United. First of all though is this funny encounter with BetVictor...

Vic was offering 'Will Wayne Rooney still be a Man United player at the start of the season' [yes] @1.33 which was still too short in my opinion.

6 hours after my enquiry their VIP team e-mailed back about the t&c. In the meantime (post Community Shield) Rooney to stay at United had shortened across the board but what's this? Well butter me up Vic only went and upped the price of Yes to 1.533!

Alas it was too good to be true. Their trader was on the ball after his earlier incorrect assumption and restricted me (for the 1st time ever) to a 1/10th of my usual lump payout before snap removing the market from play.

McGlashan, any chess picks for tomorrow?

(Serious question. I know you like your chess and the thread could do with someone who knows what they're doing)

Nope, unlike yourself I'm just a seasonal fan (when an event comes to the UK).

Bwin are offering a line of 5.5 on the number of goals Paulinho will score for Spurs this season, with 11/13 either way.

I really like the overs.

I saw a promotional article on bwin's site by chance this morning, saying he'd play deep. I disagree. Spurs are about to complete a deal for Capoué, who will sit alongside Sandro in front of the back four. Paulinho will be more prominent in attack and will be a genuine threat in the air for set pieces.

(Lol he's just scored from a header but ruled offside!)

6 goal sweats anyone?

Any views on this? I shall propose £33 and see where that gets me.

He looks a great signing and that line does look on the low side.

Tal did you have a punt on Bale to stay during this transfer window?

I haven't. I think he'll go, of course. I think it's an interesting bet and tempting, but I can't determine the head:heart ratio well enough

The value looks to be in backing these transfers not to happen. There are a lot of reasons why Bale might not move:

1. Daniel Levy
2. Daniel Levy
3. Madrid want to pay in long winded installments with only £20million up front.
4. Spurs cannot readily spend that money / easily attract a high quality replacement.

That said the odds are now into 2.6 on Bale staying.  However Rooney to stay @2.25 looks much more likely to happen.

Deontay Wilder was in action again last night. The fact his Belarusian opponent hadn't for for 18 months gives you a clue which way this fight went Wink

The KO is well worth watching though and the whole fight will only take up 2 minutes of your time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyXOXgRVjxY

edit: the fight begins at 7:20

Ronaldo and co are about to kick off vs Inter.  Our /FT was a best priced 1.9 at kick off (I'd of happily taken evens).

Real Madrid play their last pre-season friendly on Saturday night. Madrid have been making quick work of a sides in pre-season and opponents Inter have an abysmal record in friendlies.

The best value in these games looks to be backing Madrid's starting 11 to lead at half time then see the game out.

Suggested bet: £20 on Madrid /FT @2.25 with Paddy Power or Bet365.

Bayern lead BMG 2-1 at half time.

They were kroosing it 2-0 before Dante put the ball past his own keeper to seal our bet.

Bayern conceded 18 league goals last season.
22 the season before that.
1.86 for a clean sheet tonight.
What's the 'correct odds'?
Is 1.86 good or bad?

Bear in mind their away record was abnormally good last season. At home they kept clean sheets in 10/19 games.

Personally I came here to tip BTTS=yes in the game @2.1 ( i make it a 1.7 shot).

This doesn't take into consideration the Pep factor which I believe is on our favour. Pep is going back to his Barcelona roots by buying more midfielders, not playing an out and out striker and playing Martinez a DCM at CB. Fyi last season Barca kept 9 clean sheets in 38 La Liga matches.
