When using the cashpoint machine I sometimes find an uncollected receipt left behind by the previous person. If I see that he/she is badly overdrawn it makes me feel better. Why is that?
Tikay's tourney report had a similar effect.
I think it's like seeing a friend slip-over and end up on the floor with a bucket on his head. Pretty hilarious because it's not all that bad. But bad enough to be glad it's not you.

Glad to be of service. I don't recommend trying that approach on "that" Thread though.....

Brilliant tourney report Tikay. Hope you fare better in the next comp!
I was tempted to play Manchester but think I'll save myself for the Scandies at DtD next week.

Anyone recognize this House?
I wanna say its by me but its always hard to say whether that background is north wales or my area, pretty sure after studious analysis of the grass in the background that it is near me.
Looks like somesort of welsh longhouse....doesnt ring a bell tho. Pray do tell....

Wow. "North Wales, or my area". "Studious analysis of grass".
Too smart for school, you. What made you plump for somewhere in Wales?

That was my curve-ball.
"studious analysis of grass", my arse!
It's on the M62, in Yorkshire. 90,000 people a day drive past it.
Whoosh the Welsh. Now I feel better.

The picture was really by way of an intro.
The "Little House on the Prairie" as I've always called it is only one of several fascinating landmarks on the UK's Highest Motorway, the M62.
I stopped at Hartshead Moor Services today, &, as always, was reminded of the dreadful bombing of the Armed Forces coach carrying off-duty sevice personnel & their family. 1974, 12 people were killed, & it was blamed on the IRA. Mutilated bodies were said to have been found 200 yards from the scene of the blast. I recall it as if it were yesterday. Utter revulsion. What bad times they were.
A girl called Judith Ward was tried, & found guilty. Later, she was Pardoned I believe. She was found to be mentally deficient, & the Police had fabricated the evidence to get the Prosecution.
This Memorial-Tablet remains at the Service Station to this day.

Further West, the M62 crosses Saddleworth Moor, 321metres above sea Level. Think of a 124 storey building, it's that high.
Before that, several reservoirs sit alongside the motorway - Scammonden Water, Booth Wood Reservoir, there must be over 20 Reservoirs across that stretch. I helped build one at Outhwaite. (Pronounced "oowa" in that weird Yorkshire way). There's one at Linthwaite, too, or "Linwa".
No trees, it's above the tree-line, just rounded moors, as far as the eye can see. Just moor grass & sheep, nothing else. No buildings, none at all, no lights, at night it's as black as black can be.
I have a life-long fear of becoming stranded on Saddleworth Moor on a winter's night. You cannot imagine how cold it is up there. You'd die, for 100% certain.
And then there's Saddleworth Moor's reputation as the graves for the kids Myra Hindley & Brady murdered.
Scary scary.
And then, suddenly, Oldham looms up. Safe at last.
