I've had my current phone for ~ 4 years and it was last year's model when I bought it so although I love it dearly, I'm getting ready for an upgrade.
I always buy my phone outright without contract. It's usually the model that has just been superseded and I usually buy used grade A or refurbished.
However....
I was sorely tempted by the new Huawei P30 Pro. The camera is stunning, the battery life is excellent and it's water-resistant, which kind of fulfils my main criteria.
So I went to Carphone Warehouse to have a look at one in the flesh and guess what? No headphone jack!
The salesman told me "You can get an adapter".
I have earphones in both my vehicles, the bedroom and the lounge Do I buy an adapter for every pair or carry one around everywhere with me, (like I would remember to unplug it)
Even if I did buy loads of adapters, they fit into the charging port, so I can't listen and charge my phone at the same time.
Why would they do that?
What a disappointing deal breaker.

So I goggle 'Best camera phone 2018' and the vast majority of the results are for 'Best camera phone 2019' completely ignoring my request.
I tried Bing and that was no better.

I keep being tempted by the adverts for these, but then I remember that it’s the cutting to shape that is the bit I can’t do.
I inherited a coping saw in the box of tools my father in law never used. Bought new blades and made countless attempts at cutting a piece of moulding to get a neat corner joint. All failed.

I take it you've tried a mitre box?

If nothing else because the one thing terrorists don't do before an attack is go and take photo's of the target. It's the one clear way to make sure you're on the radar of the people who are trying to stop you.
I was once alerted to a blog post, (I think it was on mumsnet) that twigs arranged in the shape of an arrow near your stables or paddock means the Gypsies are going to steal your horse.
I'm torn now.
On the one hand I think I should be nice to the neighbours when we've only recently moved to the village,
on the other hand, I really want to go around arranging twigs into arrow shapes

It's very rural so there's definitely more than average.
We also have kittens

The kittens look great.
How old, what sex, are they siblings, are they a pedigree breed?

Hell yes, I have a sliding mitre saw for joining lengths, but to get a really neat corner you do need to be able to use a coping saw.

'best refurbished phones', will be mostly 2018 phones by implication. I'm like you when it comes to buying phones, recently changed from a Moto to a Samsung. Was always quite proud of my attitude to change, embrace and accept - it's essentially what I do to steal a living so would be strange if I didn't but this new phone is sorely testing that. Amazing how much muscle memory we build up over time, the fact the fingerprint sensor isn't *exactly* the same in response time and sensitivity is driving me bananas.
Think it's getting old that's the problem.

Serengeti. BBC1.
Worth watching for the stunning photography.
Let down by the lowbrow narration and the 'mood music'.

Strike that. The narration is so bad I just can't be doing with it.
