It's funny how couples always seem opposite like that.

I'm always warm but Mrs Red seems incapable of producing her own heat. It's like sleeping with a stainless steel bucket.

Just watching a USA customs programme.

The sniffer dog alerts on a backpack. A search reveals a tiny wrap containing barely enough marijuana to cover a match head.

The owner is arrested and handed over to the police.

Do you think this is CGI?

It looks too good to be real.

https://youtu.be/JIbaA66UPLs

No idea how they did it, but it's not real imo.

My guess would be that they filmed a dog that could do the trick, then image mapped the Churchill dog over the top of it.

It's been done before with actor's faces over stunt people, so I'm guessing it would be pretty easy for this.

That looks good Mr ecan. I'll check it out.

Don't get me wrong I'm totally anti drugs, it was just this guy's attitude that annoyed me.

I'm totally the opposite especially as my drug of choice,Alcohol, is perfectly legal to buy but has many of the characteristics that make other drugs illegal.

Especially when recreational use is not a criminal offence in more than half the states now (legal in 11, decriminalised in 15).

Anecdotal evidence indicates American CBP agents seem on a major power trip with little curbs to abuses of power. If I was going to the states now I'd want to go via Ireland, at least I could be turned back this side of the Atlantic.

looking forward to your write-up of your visit to Westminster, what was the atmosphere like there yesterday?  was it all hushed tones and somber or did you have people openly chatting their approval / disaproval of Messrs Johnson or Corbybn ?

Cliffs.

Westminster was pure madnedss.

Tube from Stanmoore to Westminster delayed by climate protesters.

Never seen such a heavy police presence. In the area between Westminster Bridge and the far side of Parliament Square they seemed to outnumber the civilians.

Alongside the tradesmen and city workers there were reporters doing pieces to camera, tourists, Remoaners, Brexiteers, climate protesters, inflatable plastic Boris', beggars... It was a great day to be an observer.

Security was very strict. To get to our meeting room we had to have an escort, a sponsor, a written stamped invitation, photo id, and then we were ex-rayed and virtually strip-searched.

This was our agenda.

Agenda

11.00 - Gypsy Traveller and Roma All Party Parliamentary Group Annual General Meeting

11.10 - Chair’s welcome and introductions

11.20 – 12.00 – Speakers:

•Tom McCready: Community speaker; describing a personal planning experience and the difficulties encountered.

•Emma Nuttall (Friends, Families and Travellers) and Illinca Diaconescu (London Gypsies and Travellers); research findings on non-compliance with PPTS requirement to identify land to meet a five year supply.

•Siobhan Spencer (Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group); problems encountered in getting site allocations into Local Plans.

•Simon Ruston (Planning Consultant); findings of the research commissioned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission into the impact of the planning definition change.

12.00 – 12.50 - Open discussions

12.50-13.00 – Closing points from the Chair

We had 4 MP's, a Lord, two Baronesses, and a gaggle of other Parliamentarians at our do.(which was quite good considering)

After that I had to scoot over to MHCLG on Marsham st for a 2pm GRT Liaison Group  meeting. (No time for lunch)

This was our man. https://g.co/kgs/6eQHBZ

He's just been made Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

This was the first time I've met him so I haven't had time to weigh him up yet.

Draft agenda

Updates on the national strategy to tackle Gypsy, Roma and Traveller inequalities and the UE Police Powers/criminalisation of trespass consultation
Civil Society monitoring of national Roma Integration Strategies - the Year 2 report
EUSS: progress of the scheme and any issues that are arising.

Got out just in time to join the rush-hour throng. Wasn't actually in a rush myself so had plenty of time to dawdle and enjoy it.

Had some Maccy D's, fought my way to the station and on to the tube, back to Stanmoore and then the M1 home.

Back at la maison de rouge by 9pm, totally shattered but all hyped up. didn't sleep until 3am.

When it comes to site allocation Trev, the locals everywhere are always up in arms.

I understand it completely too. I think the focus should be on small, one/two family sites which with a little bit of give and take can can work very well.

Excellent idea Tom

Easier to accommodate and a slightly easier sell to the locals

It works for a lot of reasons Trev. Big sites are always 'Them and us' affairs. Small family sites integrate more easily and there is more accountability.
