This is too ridiculous to be a wind up.

Mrs Red has just discovered Google voice search on her phone, so now she presses the microphone symbol, asks a question and a polite female Google voice answers her.
The thing I love most about the whole thing is that afterwards, with total innocence and sincerity, she thanks the Google lady very much.

I got my Mum the Google Mini, I can't help saying thank you when it sets an alarm for me etc.

I'm just watching one of those Escape to the Country programs where they try to find houses for people and I've realised what it is that I don't like about houses.
Mostly, when you're sitting down, you can't see out of the windows.
On the rare occasion that you can see out, you can only see in one direction.

When they said "Specialist cherry picker" I thought "What good would a cherry picker be in this situation?"
I had no idea they could go so high.
Hope the bloke is OK.

Shame.
The story says he was up there for 15 hours. I wonder how he got there and why rescuers didn't use the same route.

He was hanging upside down by his foot and I think he may have damaged the ladder when he "fell" (images are available if you look, not sure I'd recommend it now, but they were from a distance so they weren't blood and gore images). It looked precarious to me, so I can see why it was ruled out. I read somewhere there was a ladder attached to the chimney as some work was been done, but can't say how reliable that was.

Yes, now that I've seen the images the the whole thing did look precarious.

there is a ladder permanently up the side of the chimney but it doesn't start until 20 ft off the ground. Its also surrounded by fencing and a locked gate as a few people have tried getting up over the years. Apparently he went up 10 oclock last night and police were called 3 am, he was hanging upside down by one leg.
they tried with a helicopter but as adder was damaged they thought the downforce might knock him off. police spoke to him by drone 8 am this morning. had to wait for the cherry picker to come from Glasgow to get to him.
Rumours of mental health problems, all very sad
