Tom
Are you still knowledgable about trucks (tractor units), or anyone else for that matter?

I'm OK with the older, pre-computerised engine management system stuff Guy, and I'm extremely knowledgable about anyone else.
Who do you want to know about?

Fuel tanks! (and their capacity).
I am reviewing one of my highways claims. The truck is a Scania 6x2/4 tractor unit. From a little bit of googling it would appear that twin tanks would provide circa 600 litres capacity. Does this sound about right?
Do all trucks have twin tanks? It appears optional from aforementioned googling.

Guy , i drove Scanias and Dafs, both had 2 x 500 litre tanks plus the Daf had a third tank of 100 litres.
IIRC Dual tanks are optional.

Diesel spillage, road surface damaged? Calculate the spread factor etc?

Very much so! This is my biggest ever claim. "Winning" this will do alot for my reputation in the industry. I am doing silly amounts of investigation.
I am actually awaiting the formal response to my request for information, but I am just trying to do some "upfront" work and I can adjust at a later date.
Hoping to leave the otherside speechless (and claimless) once they see my research.

thanks that is helpful
When you refuel, is it usually mandatory to record mileage at the point of refuel. Would a Taco have this info (last stop for eg?)

It is not mandatory to record mileage , but many drivers do. Most refuelling stations used to ask if you wanted your mileage entered on your receipt.
Tacos would not have this information (amount of fuel purchased),it would obviously record any periods when the vehicle was at rest.

Booder is right re the tanks.
Taco would record stops, millage is usually recorded by the refueling garage via a loyalty card scheme. (They collect the info in return for points)

A lot of company's ask drivers to record the mileage so they can work out mpg and whether or not your nicking 5ltr here and there !

Probably more for tax reasons Lee, but most employers do insist.
