I've got a privet that bloomed a while ago. Today it's covered in bees and butterflies.

I wonder if it's because the pollen has just become ready for distribution? (Well I guess that's kind of obvious) but I wonder what changed between yesterday and today?

Did the pollen suddenly become more palatable, or was it 'released by the plant? Was nectar offered as an incentive?

...

My biologically inclined girlfriend suggests that it might be because the pollen isn't mature and ready to be released on one day (also maybe the stigma ), and it is on the next; so it stimulates the nectaries to produce nectar which is what attracts the insects.

Also it bothers her that you might still think it's the pollen - it's not the pollen, apparently the insects don't give a cr*p about the pollen. And apparently this is important :|

My compliments to your girlfriend Jon.

Lothe though I am to contradict anyone of that gender, I wonder if there is a chance she may be wrong...

Channel 129 skt Arts for documentary about Grenwich Village in the 1960's.

It's been on for for half an hour but I know you'll like it.

Standard.

I've lost so many arguments with Mrs Red to similar logic.

I have to be in Middlesbrough for a couple of days, so I took the camper to save on hotel bills.

Last night I watched to football using free Wifi from Dr Brown's pub, and this morning I had my breakfast near a secluded but very picturesque old cemetery. (I may have a walk around it later, I love old graveyards).

Life seems so simple when I'm out in the camper. I feel like I could do it forever.

It's not there now, the lads from Auf Weidersehn Pet sold it to some Native Americans for their casino.....

Unfortunately the Transporter Bridge is closed at the moment for works. Opens in Autumn according to the Council website.
Lots of other stuff to go and see though. MIMA and the Dorman Museum, Stewart Park with it's Captain Cook Museum and that's without venturing into Stockton to see the widest High Street in England.

Or the RSPB reserve at Saltholme (which would be so much easier to get to if the Transporter Bridge was in action...
