The photo is said to be from 1946, but top left corner you can just see the front of a car, & that does not look 1946 style or colour to me.

Good spot - looks like a 1960's Ford Consul or similar to me.

Weird, I noticed the galvanised bath, which I assumed was water or feed for the horse., but never noticed the knifey thing the boy is holding. What would that be used for? Chopping wood?

Yes. back in the day everyone who lit real fires had a billhook.

Mine is languishing in the shed.

I'm with Ralph on this one. I wonder what that's all about?

BBC News - The parents keeping their child's sex a secret
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-49718608

Just realised that the Mum goes by the name of Hobbit.

It's all starting to make sense now.

As soon as they're old enough to work out what's going on, the kid will probably be keeping its location secret, from them.

I would however respectfully suggest that that the trousers worn by the gent sporting the stovepipe hat are genuine 1940's.

When I was that age and someone asked me what size shoe I wore I used to say "6,7,8,9,10, or 11. Why, do you have any spare?"

The footwear is quite interesting; stove-pipe hat gent appears to be wearing galoshes(sp?), overshoes that I've only seen when I lived in Canada.

The Cortina in front of the 100E was built between 62 and 64.

I can only see one car on the left and two very indistinct blobs on the right.

Great spot Grant.

About once a year I get something right, too, as in;

The sort of photo you just see more the longer you look at it.

Not a Consul then, but a Prefect. That's pretty close for me!

I hadn't seen the Cortina in front either.
