I can imagine them designing a mobile phone.
"Lets put a bright flashing light on it" It will be absolutely useless while the phone is in his pocket, but just you wait until he puts it on the dressing table and tries to go to sleep!"
Then Boldie will say
"It doesn't flash".
Well... mine doesn't flash"
Well.... It only flashes a bit"

sigh..there's just no arguing with old, cranky and stubborn people. Bless ya, Mr Red...you really make my day sometimes.
I profusely apologise for ever stating that the Sky+ box does not make any noise..I am quite clearly mistaken...that damned Mr Murdoch is quite clearly out to drive you nuts
Seriously though, I still can't hear the noise my Sky+ box makes..but it might just be that the sound of MrsB laughing at me while I am laying on the floor trying to hear any sounds from the Sky+ box drowns it out...I am surprised Mrs Red isn't doing the same

ours really doesn't make a noise..maybe it's because the Mrs works for Sky and gets the proper stuff. but I'm sure it doesn't make any noises....
maybe yer fan's broken
gotta agree with boldie (oh the shame) mine is as quiet as a quiet thing from quiet town.
Oh mine's quiet, but it makes a noise.
if i put my ear close to it, there is a faint noise, similar to the sound of a butterfly flapping its wings.
I accept your apology.
But surely when you are watching television the TV is louder than a butterfly flapping? If the telly isn't on my Sky+ box is switched off (unless it's recording and even then I can't notice it)..I assume yours is as well...and then it doesn't make any noise whatsoever.
everything makes a noise..there is in fact not a single thing in the world..that does not make a noise.

Severe apolgies to Simon and that Garfunkle bloke
Hello sky +, my old friend,
I’ve come to listen with you again,
Because a noise softly creeping,
Left its words while I was sleeping,
And the noise that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of Red Dog’s silence.
In restless times I listened alone
Narrow streets without a phone,
neath the halo of a naked lamp,
I turned my thoughts to TK and the vamp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A mobile light
That split the night
And touched Red Dog’s silence.
And in the stupid light I saw
Nine poker people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of Red Dog’s silence.
Fools said I, you do not know
Silence like a bad beat grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my cards that I might reach you.
But my words like silent Sky + fell,
And echoed
In the wells of Red Dog’s silence
And Boldie bowed and prayed
To the poker God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of Red Dog’s diary
Are written on the subway walls
And Boldie’s balls.
And whispered in the sounds of Red Dog’s silence.

Though I admit to having freakishly large testes I would almost dare say that to have Red's entire diary written on them would be...erm...stretching things a bit
Other than that..as usual a top class post, Your Dukeness.
