Anyone ever make this thought process:

"I know I'm right, but I'm always wrong when I'm right, therefore I am wrong."

Can it be that the single reason I make bad decisions is because I don't believe myself? Basically poker is really easy and I just make it hard for myself? For the next week or so I won't do dumb stuff, and let's see how that works out. I'm going to go and cripple myself as some sort of bizarre punishment in the meantime.

Shock that someone who refers to themselves as "Absolute Zero" has self-confidence issues. You have to believe in your instincts at the table otherwise you'll never make the truly good decisions that differentiate you from the field. Away from the table though you should always be doubting yourself and checking for leaks, so to be a professional poker player you need to tread the fine line between confidence and arrogance.

i dunno if i'm supposed to say something like this, but here goes......
you were at my 1/2 table last night, lost your stack and reloaded, then played one hand and went off in a huff and swapped tables to play with Jackally,Mitch and Alex.
As a DTD reg,you know more about the tables than i do,but i thought it was a -ive EV move, esp as you seemed tilty.
just my opinion of course.

Gutted that you went for peejaytwo over zerosix, but glad you didn't stoop to oxfordalex Wink

I can promise I definitely wasn't is an much of a huff as it appeared; my emotions were pretty level last night even if I did make a bunch of mistakes. I was already on the 2/5 list though, so even though the game perhaps wasn't as +EV. After dropping £400, though, I wasn't going to be over the moon!

Just to confirm, were you the guy in seat 1?

lol. peejaytwo is a bit of a long story. im pj on a betting forum as a play on my initials and also the fact that my two biggest bets ever were on a horse called peejay hobbs.happy to report that both bets won or my username would be "mugpunter"!! most forums dont like such a short username but "peejay" was already taken on punterslounge forum.

it's really tilting when you get faced with a decision and snap think "I'm going to do X" you then take a minute to think about it, can't really find a good enough reason to do X but you really want to because it feels right, even though it makes little sense to be right!

So you do the "sensible thing" and it turns out your snap instinct WAS right and you knew it but still can't really explain why, now you're way more tilted than you would have been if you'd just rushed into an incorrect decision lol
