it's really tilting when you get faced with a decision and snap think "I'm going to do X" you then take a minute to think about it, can't really find a good enough reason to do X but you really want to because it feels right, even though it makes little sense to be right!
So you do the "sensible thing" and it turns out your snap instinct WAS right and you knew it but still can't really explain why, now you're way more tilted than you would have been if you'd just rushed into an incorrect decision lol
^^^this is sooooo right, had it happen last night, wish i had read this first .

Put in an impressive 80 minute session yesterday. Dusk Till Dawn was absolutely dead. 34 runners for the bowl comp and 58 runners for the £40 meant that neither guarantee was met. Additionally, when I arrived and put my name on the list, an announcement was made for the start of a cash game where the five names that were read out had definitely gone home. What in the world has happened to poker? It was similar last week; not quite this bad, but things were definitely taking a turn for the worse.
I know a couple of players are blaming the lack of the cash game bonus, but the club was busier pre-bonus than it is now, and also are people that greedy that they would boycott a club for not offering their players money to come and play there? Others are blaming the new rake and buyin structures, which could more realistically be having an impact on the numbers. I know a lot of regs that were in their element grinding the £200 buyin 50/1 games, and will consequently play at Alea/Gala where they offer a £250 cap in their 50/1 games, or they will be playing online where you can of course get the same benefits (plus incentive obv.) Apparently the numbers were starting to fall towards the end of the bonus, and this is why they put in place new games. I really hope it pays off for Dusk, because it is a bold move for sure, and at the moment they must be a little terrified that sub-100 people are coming through the doors each night.
I personally hope that it's the number of big comps on the way, probably meaning the recreational players will have to save up for some of the slightly bigger ones (eg, if they want to play two days in the Grand Prix, they'll take a week or two off frequenting the nightly £20.) Perhaps it's because we're nearing the end of the tax year and everybody just realised exactly how much they were spending on poker.
Does this tend to happen at this time of year? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any thoughts or opinions from some of the DTD regs?

I'm in the school of thought that its the recent changes tbh. For a lot of people the cash game bonus was the reason to stay loyal to DTD as they were the only club offering potential rakeback through free tournament seats, which outweighed they're higher rake. Now they've changed the limits on the 50.1 i think its going to take a turn for the worse, cant say i've heard much positive feedback, and i know a lot of players have looked at Genting Derby and Gala Nottingham as alternatives. All being said DTD's still the nicest venue, they just need to get the games going. Must be tilty for cash grinders such as yourself.

The sun is out, I'm wearing shorts, I Just read 10 or so articles on low stakes 6max, and now I'm reading the No Limit Workbook. I'm looking forward to grinding out 5k hands online this afternoon. I might be giving live poker a miss for a bit, not only because it is tediously slow and boring (especially now that Dusk gets 14 players per night, of whom none are willing to play 1/2, so I just churn out small loss after small loss in the shittest games ever) but also because I have no petrol in my car, and the country thinks it has run out of fuel. Why are stupid people even allowed to drive cars?

Milligan nails it!
Online games been quiet as well even, everyone in the UK is out enjoying the sunshine these last 10 days, its not just poker clubs either, anyone running any business will be suffering a trough in business right now imo, which I don't think will be the end of the world for a lot of people, as it means they can enjoy the sunshine too!

Given the limit changes were basically mine and Sean's idea, I'd like to think it's the weather and the lack of cash game bonus that has resulted in the very low footfall recently!
The 50/1 players are pissed off that they can't sit with 200 anymore. PLAY 1/2 THEN!

Literally. I was trying to get a 1/2 going last night, and everyone was commenting on how good it would be to play 1/2 without the "bullies", and how tilty it was to lose a buyin and only be able to resit with £100. The discussion died down and we went back to playing £4 pots.
This is not a rub but merely an observation, it was pretty tilty for Alex the other night losing three or four buyins and still only being able to sit for £400. I think the new limits and charges work, but only if all the games are playing at the same time. As in, the "feeder" system would work quite nicely, but doing your nuts in capped games while you're waiting for a higher limit game to even start is the definition of rage.

Alex was sat at a £1/2 game capped at £400, so why should he be able to buy in for more than the £400 cap? If players could buy in for what they want, then the game wouldn't be a £400 capped game (slightly tautologous I admit), and players like myself wouldn't be able/want to play it (bankroll nit).
The problem was that there were more than enough players there who wanted to play the uncapped £1/3 game, but for some reason that I couldn't understand, it wasn't being run. Has it been run since?

So who are the guys that are not playing at the club who would normally? Is it the recreational players stopping at home

Surely if you just sit shallower the game is a LOT better for you than a 1/2 capped game?
