Apparently September had one last shot up its sleeve, and in the £50 freezeout at Dusk last night elicited a near perfect bubble. Finishing 12th out of 92, with 9 paid. Happy with the way I played for the most part, ran at EV at showdown, although there were perhaps a couple of hands I could have played differently. (I only just this second realised the connection as well.)
On my first table, the blinds were 200/400/25. I have three nits to my left and blinds, in theory at least, were pretty easy to take down. The guy in seat 8 did just get AQ every other hand though. Miraculously it's been limped to my button, I find the

and limp along, the small completes and the big checks. Five to the flop of

. The first limper leads out for 850, folded to me and I do a call. Heads up to the turn of

, where he bets 1,200. I flat again. The river comes the

and he bets 1,200 again. I am of the opinion that with his line and cheap river bet, coupled with his fishy demeanor, that I can only really beat a bluff and he isn't bluffing. There's only one worse 8 that he can have that he limps. I call anyway and am not surprised to be shown the

.
The next questionable hand (in sequence of time, not questionability) came when there were four tables left. Blinds were 600/1,200/100 and the average was around 28k. I'm playing around 52k and the chip leader is to my left. It's folded to me in the hijack, and I open to 2,700 with

. The chippo calls and the blinds fold. The flop brings the

. I lead for 3,500 and he calls pretty quickly. The turn comes a

which we check check. The river comes the

which seems like the perfect card to barrel, so I bet 6,100. He tanks for a while and calls it off with

. I was about to give credit to his call, when I looked up and caught a glimpse of someone with crossed eyes, bucked teeth, and flappy ears, right before he let out the goofiest chuckle ever recorded. Probs thought it was a special needs group, which would explain why he was sat next to me.
My exit hand was

with 8bb, where I shoved and the big blind found

and held. Immediately left the card room, and landed in the cash game at Alea, where I ground out a profit of £117. The first table broke, where I took away £80 or so and should have left then, as I was incredibly tired and playing far from optimally. As fortune would have it, though, I made a fairly spewy float with a gutshot and one over versus Tim '7ball' Chung, binked the over and got a pot sized value bet. I can't truly explain my thought process, as most of my brain power was going into keeping my eyelids from closing. Limp-folded a bunch of small pairs before deciding to call it a night, and a month.
