I was 13 years old before I realised that the purpose of one's toes is not limited to finding furniture in the dark.

Eleven years on and I'm starting to second-guess that theory.

Toe nails are a bit showy for me anyway.

Year off to a mixed start.

Bad news: got older.

Good news: win rate of £55/hr. Sustainable one time.

Have a question regarding car insurance for those who are more experienced: what would you suggest with regards to my occupation? Obv don't want to be dishonest, but also don't want to land in a high risk group. Reckon I could get away with freelance writer/designer?

I went for independant means but not all insurance companies have that option

Thanks Mandatoo and thank you Herbie. 2012 off to a cracking start. Sold the £500 deepstack seat that I earned through DTD's rakeback system, but a friend of mine wanted to put a couple of us into the satellite tonight. He and I both landed a seat, and I think Desperado is having another crack in tomorrow's satellite. Tomorrow will be the second deepstack I've ever played and I have to admit I'm oddly excited. I've been feeling a whole lot better about poker this last month, and I have a good feeling about this. "Confidence," I think they call it. Hard to confirm, though.

I've been hitting the gym pretty hard to start the year off as well. I've not put in any lengthy sessions yet, but have been pushing the cardio to work off the Christmas weight. It's strange how good the exercise makes you feel, and how mentally stimulating it can be, yet how easy it is to forget the post-session sensation. Sometimes it takes all the willpower I have to scrape myself off the mattress after a late night and get myself on a treadmill when I'd love nothing more than to stay in bed with a hazelnut mocha and watch Frasier and Scrubs reruns. I think this qualifies as delayed gratification. It strikes me as the nut opposite feeling you get when you order a Dominos, or when you rub one out over your girlfriend's younger sister and it feels great for 20 minutes or so, but is something you ultimately and immediately regret.

I've set up a few goals for 2012. They're definitely realistic, although I'm not sure if I'm setting the bar a little low. In any event, as a personal and professional lifetime underachiever I'll be proud of myself if I haven't completely given up on life within 30 days. I'll try and keep you all updated on the success or lack thereof.

 - 1,200 hours of poker
 - £20k annual profit
 - 500 gym hours

And somewhere along the lines I would like to

 - Complete a 15k run
 - Stop smoking (I probably only smoke 40/month but I'd love to quit again and actually fucking kick it this time)
 - Move up to £1/2
 - Start a typography blog/website
 - Start playing online
 - Find a backer for live comps
 - Go on at least one trip with Team Eureka
 - Do something for charity (tanking shaving my head, but would have to generate some serious funds for this! Will probably combine this with my run for added motivation.)
 - Invent another signature drink/dish/sauce
 - Win 5 pie flips vs PeeJay

I think that covers just about everything, but it's 6am and I'm truly exhausted.

1200 hours is not appalling in anyway Adam. Especially for Sean who takes a 2 week break after every losing session Wink

Million that you even do half that this year Adam.

I'm talking live poker ofc, Sean doesn't play online so that's what he was referring to.

Lol. This is brilliant. Immediate re action was to make a confession myself but then ran out of bottle because 1) it's too sick.  2) my wife reads blonde sometimes.  3) she does not have a sister

I don't even think I'd be too upset by this under normal circumstances, but the thing that worries me is that I don't even have a younger sister.

And, very happy you've got a seat in the deepstack! Will be eyeing the updates all weekend. Smiley

Team Eureka > Team Beth Wink

Glad to hear that Sean, the DTD caribbean would be the nut one to aim for imo.
