Sigh. Just called it an early night at Gala. Was an absolute cardrack pre, but none of my hands held. Had a pretty tilty one for £120 where I lead three streets from the big blind on
with
and got called down by
. Then I lost a flip with AK against JJ for £300. The game was lacking in banter and dynamics, and on top of that: Gala did not deliver a single "lol" moment (except for when I was dealt the
but my
got flipped in the deal, the resulting flop was
and villain sat £200 and a tendency to not fold a pair flopped top two... but I'm only laughing about that so I don't cry.)

Yeah v. UL not to have cashed in on the MC
Then again, the butterfly effect would've meant that had you had the 10%, everything would be different and Alex would've been coolered in level 3 and out. Hope that makes you feel better
Save me 20% of the next deepstack you play. My rungood monies might come in handy.

Has anybody seen live poker?
This is the second time this week I've gone out to work to find that there are no cash games anywhere. I was looking forward to playing at Dusk in a few weeks' time, but according to Alex it's dead there, too. I always thought that Black Friday would be the slow demise of online poker, and that the live scene would start booming, but it just looks like it's good game unless you live in the capital. I was railing Tom High on a few heads up PLO tables last night and it's clear that plenty of fish still play online. Take that as you will.
As a result - I ended up staying at Highroller Road with stato and Minraise. I was introduced to their sick flop game, and finally found something I run worse at that live 50p/£1 holdem. A fairly common scenario would be to win two out of four boards, and while I would pick up two jacks for £0 each, stato would pick up two aces for £10 each. To epitomise my form: I won three out of four boards, picked up two black deuces for a quadball on one of them, and still lost money in the hand. It's still a great game though, and I suggest everyone try it at least once. It provokes the kind of sickness that is only mildly preferable to food poisoning and combines it with a celebratory pat on the back or commiserative smack in the crotch, but leaves you feeling oddly euphoric either way.
After I lost £100 (it's almost like I didn't take the night off after all), stato was running pretty deep in a bunch of MTTs and was feeling outrageously sympathetic. He told me that if I got the Dominos pizzas in, that would cover the debt. Minraise lost the flip to get on the phone and order it, and the hilarity started there. I've never had a problem ordering a pizza before, but this was something else. Now I'm not sure if this is a delicate topic, so I'd like to confirm that there is no racist intent here: why would you employ someone who doesn't speak English to take your business over the phone? Granted, a lot of British employees in the takeout pizza trade don't speak great English either, but this was untrue. 20 minutes we were on the phone ordering two pizzas as factory standard, with emphasis on "large," as this was clearly a point of contention. An hour later, some nervous guy turned up at the doorstep with two "medium" pizzas, asking for 25% more than they did on the phone.
So we got back on the phone, and I was at the wheel this time. After every sentence where I used one word that he didn't understand, he would pretend he couldn't hear me. Eventually, he put me on to the guy that took the order in first place, and no matter what I said, his response was, "but you ordered two medium pizza. Is that all?" I would like the clarify that I was not at all unpleasant, I have the phone manner of a gentleman (no mean feat, given that I'm a fat social leper.) In fact, I had even had a chuckle with the guy. Maybe a chuckle
at
the guy... Maybe I was laughing so hard at his overall incompetence that I had to put the phone down and settle for the small, tepid, overpriced meal that was slumped on the table before me with zero allure. Still, the way I chose to see it was as a £70 win, not a £30 loss. Score.
I will be stopping by Dominos tomorrow to ensure that my next visit will be on the house. Full trip report chronicled here for your amusement. Peace.

Now a standard situation that is so bad I now completely avoid by ordering absolutely any takeaway online. Dominos and pizza hut have their own sites, Dominos have an Iphone app and most local takeaways can be found on
