Going to commit to this thread daily now, looking in providing support and trying to get my weight down and energy levels up.

Been feeling really groggy recently had blood tests from the docs and need to go in for further tests for diabetes.

Ergh, can't say i didn't see it coming if i do have it. They said i had a blood glucose reading on the test of 6.1 where it should be between 4-5. I hadn't fasted for the test that day though and may have well had a chocolate en route. I did have a fast for 12 hours (rarity) this week, went into lloyds pharmacy and had a test done and it was 4.7 which is relatively healthy and within normal range.

What this could mean is that i have pre diabetes or none at all and i am just feeling bad because of the continuous sugar highs i am getting with no exercise, whatever the story at 23 i am looking to get my arse in gear for life, because i want to get back to the physique i had 5 years ago before it gets tougher and tougher to do so.

Thinking about going on lighter life, (530 cals a day diet, shouldn't be too bad to start as i pretty much don't exercise) lose enough fat so that i find it easier to run without my joints giving in, slim down nicely. Then start with a more fuller protein filled diet to build muscle and have a crack at getting myself match fit to play 11 a side football again. It all sounds drastic but i think because i am living a bone idle lifestyle atm, this is the best way around it. Exercising initially is hard with all this fat and poor development of muscles is straining. Hmmm maybe i should start with dumbell work, build the muscles as a fatty then just exercise more aggressively when my muscles are better to support my weight while running? What do you think? Overthinking this? Just get off my fat arse and start running, stick with it, then eventually things will become easier?

BTW great effort with the 5k Girgy.

And btw i have never in my life been able to do more than 2 genuine press ups, i would love to post a vid up with me doing 100 a year down the line. Would be a personal achievement, horror memories from my PE teacher laughing at me as a chubby 14 year old as i was failing to go down for my 3rd press up.

So this challenge is gonna be the death of me. Its took me this long to make any sort of progress, and I just had a session where I felt I still wasn't doing the push ups right.

A few weeks back I started a routine recommended by EvilPie, which I am pleased to say is helping a lot. He pretty much told me my core is too weak, so the routine will help keep that strong as well as my arms.

Basically it is 3 minutes of intense cardio, an upwards plank for as long as I can do (aim 3 minutes plus), press-ups, then a lower plank - repeat.

So I've been doing that four times in a session, with a set number of press-ups for the first three set, then as many as I can for the final set. Its been really tough, and my arms are full of lactic acid by the time the last set starts.

The progress since I started the Pie programme has been noticable:

12/07: 12-12-12-16. Longest  plank 1 min 30
14/07: 14-14-14-18. Longest plank 1 min 30
16/07:  16-14-16-20. Longest plank 1 min 40
18/07:  16-16-16-24. Longest  plank 1 min 50
20/07: 18-18-18-24. Longest  plank 1 min 50
24/07:  20-20-20-26. Longest plank 2 min 18

I am still pretty sure my press-ups need fine tuning, but I am making sure my face is almost touching the mat each time, which I think at the moment is the best I can hope for. My current max is 26, but I am expecting when I do a 'test' to be a lot higher because I am usually shattered when I get to that final set.

I reckon I will be paying a forfeit on this one, hopefully not a sizable one. I hope you lot will lenient with me on my press-up form when I post a test video, because this one is killing me and I'm still not sure I'm doing them right. Think I'll do a test set at the end of the month to see what my current actual max is.

The one good thing is my weight is staying around the 13 13 mark without me really watching my eating religiously, and my 'shirt muscles' are getting a bit tighter.

Just read back a few pages.
August 23rd as a taget date for 100 press ups... Think I've left ot too late to hit that, starting the programme on 22nd July.

First time I did it I got to 65 in my 4 week test, but I was in a lot better shape than I am now.
Will still give it my best shot though

Just extend it to september.

I cant speak for my fellow fatties here, but I think these challenges and this thread will continue all year in some form, I certainly will be,  so go for september 23rd or someink

Which app are you using? Is there recommended apps vs ones people wouldn't recommend?

Using the Push Up App on Android and it seems to spread the press ups out more evenly.

Currently on 14-13-15-14-14-13 = 83 target is 50 as I tried 100 a few months back and lost interest.
