Todays fodder...

2pm Pack of grapes.

5pm Scrambled eggs with beans on 4 toast.

6pm Strawberry Yogurt.

is that 4 slices of toast girgs? If so need to cut that down a bit bud. Maybe 2?

yea i know 2 slices a day max.

If that really is everything you've eaten all day I'd keep the extra 2 slices but maybe have them for breakfast.

Toast obviously isn't ideal but in moderation it's a damn sight better than nothing.

The most important objective at the start of your gym membership is to just establish the habit of going, because that is the first step to a lifestyle change. A lot of people fly in with all guns blazing and try and achieve too much too quickly and lose the love very quickly. You hurt like hell the next day and hate the thought of going back anytime soon to slog away on the treadmill again. My advice would be to try and make the experience enjoyable so you look forward to return visits. Start with very light sessions, take yoga class, then nice relaxing spa session. Getting involved in a regular class creates a habit and relaxation makes future sessions something you look forward to. Once going to the gym becomes part of your life you can vamp up your physical objectives with a better chance of lasting success.

Good luck all taking part! I think Mantis makes a good point here and having worked in the fitness industry many years ago people need to realise it takes a minimum 28 days to change a habit so getting that right now is V important as you need to be consistent with your behaviours for that time and then those new behaviours become the norm!!

Got to agree with Cos, Russells and Mantis. Thats why I like them both so much.  Wink

Cos is right with the lame excuses.
I got back from Vegas, landing 10.30am on Monday, started my new role as MD at work Tuesday, had a meeting at HSBC last night. It doesnt matter. I was going to keep my normal gym routine.

Martial arts Tuesday, Spinning Wednesday, Ran 8k last night after HSBC and tonight gonna fit in a run and weights before DTD.

Just force yourselves to get there and that's it your away. Say's a lot about you if you don't have the self control to make yourself do something so easy.

Russells comment about Girgy's toast is so true also. You could add a main meal too that list and still lose massive amounts of weight!

Same for Soviet, a few pints one night a week and a nandos one night a week isnt going to make much of a difference IF everything else is sensible and healthy.

People with a lot of self-control don't get fat in the first place.

That's what these guys are fighting against.

Sorry Stu but that's just bollocks. Jet lag affects people in different ways, just because your 'ok' doesn't mean everyone else will be too. I've been so fucked when I got home from work each day (apart from one I was ok) that I have basically just stayed awake as long as I could manage and then go
to bed. I'm then waking up at stupid o'clock and am still really knackered trying to sleep but not able to.

My ONLY priority this week was to ensure I get enough kip so I can function at work that is it. I'm really motivated about this whole thing and ifI was able to go to the gym I would have done.

I'm gonna lose this 24lbs but I'm gonna do it my way, not how other people think I should. If it was a lame excuse I would just say I couldn't be arsed going to the gym as I don't care what people think anyway, I have no doubt I will be doing that plenty of times over the 12 weeks.  Cheesy

Should have gone to the gym today but really cba.  Need to work on that, prolly keeping a packed gym bag ready to go might help..

Really struggling with any exercise with week too, when I get my body clock back in sync maybe.......

So jet lag is affecting you so much that you can't do exercise for a whole week? Seems ridiculous.

Fair enough Woodsey but to people reading the thread it still seems lame. Because you're bodyclock is out of sync why does that mean you can't get to the gym for a half hour?

Mate I'm fucked just sat her in the car sat outside the hospital waiting to go in. The last thing I will want to do after a 2 hour drive home later at 4pm is go to the gym. It would be pointless, I would put very little into in and get very little out of it. Better to get myself sorted out with a few good nights Kip and focus on the gym next week.

It's a marathon not a sprint, a few days isnt  going to make a blind bit of difference. Judge people on their progress with weight over the weeks that is all that matters at the end of the day.

Also gotta say I think I've been pretty disciplined in every other aspect this week so the lame comment tilted me a bit when I thought I was doing well tbh.

Wasn't having a go at you directly Woodsey, although reading it back it obviously comes across like that.
Just seems like a few people on here are making out like it is actually hard to go to the gym with various excuses.
It was just an easy comparison to make as we did similar flights.
Apologies I had no idea jetlag could last so long or be so disabilitating (is that even a word?)

No worries mate as you can sense I'm slightly irritable, which is just not me lol, must me the jet lag.

Thinking about it it didn't affect me at all until Tuesday as I wasn't forced onto a schedule until then so I was just getting up whenever, it's only since then it's been knackering.
