My bro used to row for Great Britain a fair few years back, they had to eat something like 6000 calories a day when in full training. Actually eating 6000 calories of healthy food without supplements etc is actually pretty hard.

Add a side of garlic bread, with cheese of course.

When I was weight training and fighting 8 times + per week I was on 5500 to maintain 16st 10lb.

Without supplements I'd never have managed it.

I'm trying to eat a lot atm to get back somewhere near there but I still struggle to get above 3500.

Admittedly a lot more of the calories before were from carbs which made it more achievable but from the high protein I'm aiming for now it's really tough.

Obviously with a rower it'll be similar. He doesn't need to be scared of carbs so rice, pasta and bread are all good ways to boost the calories.

If only I'd known that all I needed to do was eat a dominos every day.

Fighting 8 times a week Huh??

Not all fighting. 8 training session in total each week.

4 x weights

2 x BJJ

2 x kick boxing

I used to have a game of squash on a Friday night as well + a sauna, swim and steam room but I didn't count that 'cause it was just a relax and chill out really.

Weights session were only 45 minutes but very intense. Kick boxing was 1 hour but pretty hard work. BJJ was 2 hours of absolute torture Cheesy

I guess I should add the 60 to 90 minutes walking the dog every day to that lot as well.

It's surprising how much you need to eat when you do that lot.

Obviously with me being 16st 10lb at the time I was burning a lot just being there. Even without the exercise I'd need a lot of calories to maintain that weight.

Shit. Knew there was a reason I ain't posted on here this week.  Forgot to post my weight on Monday as it was 15  6 which is my usual weight. Been following and got jealous of Dan Ward's efforts as he was around the same as me Sad

That is beast mode right there. Bet you were buzzing from the high of endorphines on most days.

Diet 01/02/12

Latte
Lamb 120g
Pitta Bread
Wasabi Plum Sauce
300g Chicken
Broc/Spring Onion/Pak Choi/Green Beans/Chilli
100g Boiled Rice
MP Cookie
Isoclear 2 scoops

Protein 202g
Carbs 127g
Fats 38g

Cals 1725

Little bit of veg in there in my stir fry which is was nice, M&S do the nut stir fry packs with lots of diff veg and some fresh Chillis too.

Bench arrived this morning and my brother who was over here to help my old man move some stuff about has set it up. He's gonna be coming over to train as well a couple times a week which negates the need to pull the old man in on spotting duties Cheesy

Gym visit again today, still can't turn left into the gym though, keep turning right to the swimming pool.  Nevertheless, pretty hard swim, definitely felt fitter/faster.  Did half an hour with one breather in the middle, got out puffing but feeling good.

100% correct. These days I feel really low in comparison.

I really miss those days but lifestyle changes mean it'll have to remain a memory for now Sad
