I didn't know cods had loins.

Gotta love Cod Loins.

This will be the basis of tonight's concoction.

2 x Cod Loins

I tin chopped Toms (Tesco Finest), with 4 mushrooms pre-microwaved & stirred in, & 2 x Oxo Cubes to soothe the palate.

6 pieces of sliced beetroot.

1 poached egg.

It will be preceded by a Slim-a-Soup.

For afters, pineapple chunks, an apple, & a Low Fat Yogy.

My short term goal is 16 st
My long term goal is 15 stone ....however even with Matt Russell screaming at me whist training for three peaks a couple of years ago didn't achieve that!

Morning Lee.

The Nurafens are because I have a permanent headache, & have done for several months now. I was hoping that the diet would help me feel generally better, as I've not felt so good of late. A non-stop headache is like toothache, it makes me tetchy & intolerant, & I don't like that.

The Rennies are like a litmus test of my food intake. When I eat well, I don't need them any more, when I eat bad, I go through a pack (24) every week. Within days of starting the diet, my Rennie intake has dropped to zero.

Calorie Intake? Around 850-900 per day, but I don't mind if it creeps up to 1,000 or so. The daily amount is not really important, it is sustaining a healthier intake over a period that matters. Don't forget (in before "900 is not enough"), I'm not a young man, & I don't expend much physical energy these days, though I do use tons of mental energy.

If I can start getting some daily exercise - say a 2 mile walk every day - then I'd up the calorie intake accordingly. I'm too tired to walk much at the moment, so I need to consume more energy. A vicious circle!

20th December 2011 25kg x 16, 40kg x 8, 50kg x 4,

.........

15th January 2013 20kg x 10, 25kg x 8, 25kg x 8, 25kg x 8,

22nd January 2013 22.5kg x 8, 25kg x 7, 27.5kg x 6, 30kg x 5,

29th January 2013 25kg x 10, 27.5kg x 8, 27.5kg x 8, 27.5kg x 7,

5th February 2013 25kg x 8, 30kg x 8, 35kg x 6, 40kg x 5,

That's more like it Smiley

No idea why the sudden increase in strength from my first 3 weeks back but I'm not going to complain.

I'd guess it was just a case of my body getting over the shock of being back at the gym and a bit of muscle memory kicking in.

Very happy with today and feeling confident about hitting the 50s again in the next month or 2.

No idea what my weight is but I'm still not fat so I'm not going to worry about that too much for now.

This sounds like a horrible situation to be stuck in. No point stating the obvious and saying 'go to the doctor' because you're like me and you won't. Can't help with this unfortunately.

Have you ever tried to find out if you have a particular 'trigger' for indigestion/heartburn? I used to suffer with it really badly after I'd been for a curry with Stu on a Thursday night. I thought it was something in the food but it turned out to be one specific lager (Peroni I think) that made me ill. Simply changing that to a different brand fixed things and I haven't bought a Rennie since.

All sounds sensible enough to me. Do less work means you require less energy. Pretty obvious really

This contradicts your previous argument for only consuming 900 calories per day. If you're knackered you consume more food to try to make yourself less tired. However if you're not exercising you aren't burning that energy. Your body therefore has a surplus which it has to convert to fat which will make you more lethargic.

If you're too tired to do something what you need is more sleep not more calories. Rather than think about going for a 30 minute walk try going to bed 30 minutes earlier. This might make you less tired so you can then go for a walk. When you walk you can consume more calories which will give you more nutrients and good stuff whilst still burning the excess energy. This will make you less tired and more inclined to walk. A more friendly vicious circle I think you'll find.

Some good stuff there Matt, thank you.

I think the heartburn/acid indigestion cause is two-fold - an excess of rich food, & eating my food too quickly. I wolf food down way too fast. Can't seem to stop myself.

The final point interests me most. I sleep a LOT more these days, but it is not helping. I try & get an hour every afternoon, & I'm in bed most nights before 11pm, & rarely rise before 5 or 6am. I'm permanently tired it seems.

I suspect the components of the equation are age, & the amount of mental energy I get through. There is probably no medical proof of this, but I'm convinced that stress & worry, or "negative energy", has twice the value of regular energy.

I only seem at complete peace with the world when the Internet is off, & I'm reading. Reading must be the most therapautic thing ever ever ever. I'm currently re-reading all my books on the Falkland War, in particular the Naval side of things. I read somewhere on blonde yesterday that a chap felt physically sick at the time, & still does, some time later -  because (wait for it.....) his football team lost a game. Meanwhile, I am reading about Servicemen overcoming horrendous conditions & doing so without flinching, & with resolve & courage. I find it hard to see the 2 things side by side, & it gets me all wound up. Then I stress about it, da de da.

Perspective & all that.

Anyway, apologies for the derail, I can't help myself sometimes, & I'm in a funny mood today.

Pah, I need a latte now to calm me down. Wink

Yeah, persistent headaches aren't good.

If you're not going to go to a doctor, you'll have to make do with advice from unqualified people on here.

My first suggestion would be to see a doctor. Second bit of advice is that a lot of headaches are caused by dehydration. Drink more fluid, and not coffee, as it can act as a diuretic and the excess caffeine could also be a trigger itself.
