Cricket Australia says David Warner was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with an England player, believed to be Joe Root. He has been reported for "unbecoming behaviour" and has been stood down from the squad, pending an investigation.

Wade top batsman for the Aussies @10/1 with sporting bet they haven't reacted to the news. More than likely he will be opening. Most of the market has adjusted

Have a tenner on, if he doesn't open we don't do our conkers

Its far from certain that he won't play in the Ashes

Wade isn't good enough at the top of the order anyway against Anderson and the new ball

If Clarke is fit he runs away with it anyway

Watching brief.

Sorry mate,  it was for today's game. Should have been clearer.

gotcha, he is opening

good call (sorry I thought you meant the ashes)

Meanwhile at Edgbaston the big screen plays messages to the crowd from all the ICC captains

stay of the pitch etc etc

Michael Clarke "Remember, please drink within your boundaries"

Couldn't make it up!

Thanks, but unfortunately, I am unable to process any bets until mid afternoon today. (Don't even ask.....)

Hope it wins, but also that NZ thrash the Aussies.

Australia 10/2 with Watson out - an excellent start for New Zealand.
Wade is still in.

We had a very good May, and the first part of June was ok but the last five days have seen a slump

you can see recent bets at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&pli=1#gid=25

highlights included backing every horse in the Derby and breaking even (I jest, but we broke even)

Prompted from a question from Tighty.

Podium Finish:
Richie Porte 4.5 Bet365

Porte podium, not a bad shout. He's good mates with Froome, often train together in Nice & closely match each other. Froome the better climber & Porte a stronger time trialist. If the Sky team are working particularly well & dominating the race in the mountains they can engineer a 1/2. Also, if Froome were to crash out etc, he's a standout podium spot.

A little further research & this in Cycling Weekly http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/538829/richie-porte-gets-ready-to-support-chris-froome-in-tour-de-france-title-bid.html

Porte has been, after Froome, the most consistent stage racer this season. Looks a more than decent bet imo.

Recommend £20 if 365 are amenable

I went and had a look at http://www.oddschecker.com/cycling/tour-de-france/winner

You can get 20-1 e/w 1,2,3 1/4 for Porte to win

So 5/1 the place

On the off chance that Froome is not in contention (injury etc) you then get the shot at the win too

This may or may not suit Tonji, just pointing it out

I liked the Sagan bet too...currently odds against 6/5 for the Points classificiation with Paddy Power http://www.oddschecker.com/cycling/tour-de-france/points-classification

which if I read you correctly earlier is a mis-price as you and the rest of the market have him odds-on

Edit, one possible negative. If Froome is in any way under pressure. Sky's Dave Brailsford will have no trouble instructing Porte to sacrifice his overall placing if it helps Froome FTW. Ruthless team management!

Here's another mention for Boo Weekley, who I suggested stood out for me at 100-1 yesterday on the stats relative to course characteristics

http://www.sportinglife.com/bettingzone/golf/67/8772001/ball-striking-boo-the-best-bet

I wonder if he booked an extra seat for the trophy on the plane home? and was he wearing the blazer for a bet?

Yep, pretty much that. Personally not too keen in tying up any money in short odds over three weeks. Sagan is still only 23, with only two Grand Tours under his belt. Finished both, & is certainly strong enough, but there is a general rule of thumb that a rider has to have ridden 3 GTs to be comfortable.

Yep, probably better value, I guess. £10 EW is more profitable?
