A masters champ
- Has to hit it long
- Has to hit it straight
- Has to putt
more than most tournaments due to Augusta being narrow and long? (I am repeating punditry I have heard today)
Who is top of the stats in driving distance/greens in regulation and lowest putts per round on the USPGA?
One of you Mr Novice

Taking Tiger and Rorys midpoint on betfair gives u 2.38-1 for either of them to win. I will take 2.35-1 the pair if anyone wants to lay- any size bets welcome.
To clarify Im betting Tiger and Rory for any stakes @ 2.35-1, you get the field

Pretty sure you could do better than that price. Didn't I see somewhere 2/5 field, 7/4 Warwee and Tiger combo?

2.35-1 is between 9/4 and 5/2

Midpoint is now 2.42-1 the pair. So 2.35-1 is very fair

the cricket bet is now 8-11 so we have beaten the price
unfourtantley in recent weeks i am very good at beating the price in nearly everything i back but not the winners!
Correct, I was just looking at that.
The Blackburn DNB has also firmed to 11/2 best, 5/1 generally, too. (We are on @ 6/1).
If I have absorbed the sermons correctly, if we beat the market, we have value. Mostly, sort of.
yes, the draw no bet price you took is a good one, it is now currently under 6/1. Sorry I didn't reply in full to your post last night Tony, I was playing the golf at the time.
The way to find out the correct DNB price using the match prices was posted earlier in the thread but here it is.
take the match prices on BF now
Blackburn 8.6
Draw 5
Man Utd 1.45
Take 1 point off the draw which gives you 4, times it by the Blackburn price of 8.6, then divide by the full draw price of 5. This gives you 6.88, or 5.88/1
Makes the Man Utd price around 1.16 with a bit of % still in it, to get them to 100% you should convert the match prices down to 100% and then do the same but they are near enough really.
ps , did you use the word sermon to mean a good or bad thing?
Thnk Phil, I can almost understand that!
Sermons good or bad? Good, obviously! If an old dog wants to learn new tricks, the ego has to be left in the kennel.

Straight was never a factor at Augusta as up until a few years ago there was absolutely no rough.
In the last few years they've grown a bit of rough but bombers still have a big edge.

well, before last weeks event which he didn't play in Bubba Watson was leading the driving distance stats by some distance, he also leads he GIR stats too and , crucially, he hits what would be a power draw for a right hander which is deffo the better shape to play at Augusta. We have bet him a few times recently on the golf thread and he has played very well all season, his finishes in stroke play events so far have been
18
13
5
13
2
4
and he was putting poorly earlier in the season but much better lately, the downside is he can be a little hot headed and his best result here so far is 20th, but it shoulld suit him really.
PS, If Rory designed a course that suited him down to the ground it would look like Augusta.

Not necessarily for this thread Phil, but for a "watching interest" Watson is best priced 50-1. I assume you wouldn't put me off e/w?

Think i said this before elsewhere i would be amazed if rory or tiger don't win this. What price to back them both? Surely we get better than evens on one or the other?! Lump on!!!

deffo wouldn't put you off Rich, the good thing there is he is 50 on Betfair, so you can bet what is basically his win only price on there with the ew terms of 6 places in a few spots. He lost a play off in the PGA to Kaymer a couple of years ago so knows how to play well in a major.
he does have the look of someone that will win one somewhere so why not this week given the form he is in, the one drawback is it can sometimes be hold your breath, where is this one going but at the moment he is hitting it on average 10 yards further than anyone else on the US tour and leading the GIR stats at 73.61 GIR
