3B cricket  England v New Zealand

I think this is a genuine 50/50 game but we are able to back one of the teams at 11/8. Like a lot of occasions in this country we are able to bet against England at a decent price as the bookies know the patriotic money will come in for England irrespective of the price. We haven't set the competition on fire, our batting looks frail and there seems very little leadership on the field.

Recommend £20 New Zealand @ 11/8 Blue Square.

By the way isn't it  great to see such universal love for our man 3G ?  Even the Camel was extolling his virtues  over on the other   thread !

It was an absolute joy to see, he was one of the first Fred Heroes, everyone was chuffed to bits, Methuselah Minor thought he was great, even the hardened Dubai said he had man-love for him, whilst Nick himself said "it is in the pants".

He plays again this asftenoon, paired with Mr Garcia, who did not sparkle quite so much yesterday, versus Dufner & Johnson, & it is pretty much 6/5 both, with some 5/4 available.

This looks reasonable, it is 11/8 for what appears to be a coin-flip, & the "home punter" thing means England are probably a false price.

£20 @ 11/8 with Blue Square has been duly risked, thank you, & good luck with your St Helens bets today.

I had Contador at 10/1 (think he should be 6 or 7/1). Gilbert at 2/1 too short.

I've heard Valverde is not starting (although he's up in the betting). Weather forecast set for rain. Crashes aplenty possible on tricky descents. Bit of a lottery.

No Fred recommendations.

They are rolling out in 15 mins.

West Indies v Sri Lanka

I fancy the West Indies

but

suggested bet is the boundaries market

Sri Lanka v New Zealand on this ground 2 days ago 40 boundaries

West Indies v England on this ground 2 days ago 45 boundaries

NZ v Pakistan the last completed match in the group stage on this ground 41 boundaries

fast pitch, smallish boundaries

gayle, charles, samuels, pollard, dilshan, jayawardene, sangakkara

Suggest £60 over 37.5 boundaries at 5/6 William Hill

For future reference.

I don't like cocky people at all.

I particularly dislike cocky sportsmen (and poker players) who have no right to cocky because thy aren't good enough to be cocky. (eg Ian Poulter, Peter Manley, Joey Barton, Ronnie O'Sullevan, Negreanu)

I forgive cocky people who are actually the best at their chosen pastime, so they have an excuse to be cocky. (eg Usain Bolt, Shane Warne, Daley Thompson, Nick Faldo, Tiger Woods, Jason Mercier)

But my favourite people are those who have very reason to be cocky but are actually down to earth and decent people (eg Federer, David Silva, Messi, Mo Farah and the glorious Pendleton, Gus Hansen)

Now you know.

If we take the price of 6/1 for a draw.

There are28 games.

Total stake £110.

To maintain the same risk £110/28 = individual stake per game of £3.93.

If the over 4.5 were to win the total return would be £190 (£110 +£80)

Individually @ 6/1 each half would generate £27.51

£190/£27.51 = 6.9 so almost 7 halves to generate the same profit. Obviously there is a trade off of the lower numbers producing a return of some sorts and you almost break even at 4 halves.

There is also the fact a half for a withdrawal doesn't produce anything on an individual basis.

McDowells putt on 18 and 3g on 17 last night didn't help us much so we kinda hit the woodwork twice but such is the way it goes. We are not where we wanted to be but not exactly ripping up the betting slip yet more casting it aside, but it is live.
