Some obvious questions about value.

Following tonights result do Swansea look backable at Arsenal at the weekend, also Stoke at WB?

I know this doesnt help fred now, but I am happy with it anyway. Saw Tottenham were 2.6 2 mins before Ko and had a cheeky ton on it, I know it was getting put across on here before, but I didn't really clock and thought why not. Should hold now, I don't believe in boks.

You're in big trouble if you're not right!

All is good. I have already done the celebratory windmill.

The game was on in my local Legion (random European TV ftw). If you'd watched that game in Cannon Hill Park (other, Birmingham parks are available) and been told it was the Dog and Duck against the King's Arms, you would have moaned about how bad pub football is nowadays.

Still better than the Villa, mind.

ADD to that list Newcastle v Wigan on Monday, after Newcastle lost yet again tonight (4 on the bounce now?) & look periously close to the scrapyard area at the foot of the PL.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/newcastle-v-wigan/winner

Wigan (100/30) can only shorten, I would have thought.

I'm actually more interested though, following todays natter, to see if Tighty or others come up with some "specialist" (lower leagues etc) stuff.

And Spurs Bloke can surely find us some value in the London Chess Classic individual matches? I'm already mildly tempted by that chap @ 7/1.

On that point, if anyone sees a market on the chess with another bookmaker, by all means tell Fred. Otherwise, I'll stick to Ladbrokes.

Starts Saturday and goes on til the following Monday.

I may have a pregnancy related bet. Adrian Lewis' wife is about to drop. He plays this weekend in the Players Championship in Minehead against Richie Burnett. Lewis has said that his mind is understandably elsewhere and he really hopes the baby comes before he goes to Minehead as he doesn't want to be there waiting for a call to come back. If the baby doesn't come then the 9/4 about Burnett looks good to me.

Fascinated by the numbers that reds & bobby mention.

We beat ourselves up on here a lot, or I do, sometimes with good reason, but to get our collective efforts into perspective, two stats from our spready are.....

Total Bets 885, amount wagered £33,499, Profit, £788, ROI 2.35%.

Football Bets 299, amount wagered £11,406, Profit £633, ROI 5.55%.

I know, sample size, da de da, but given my previous punting history - I'm a geeeezer - that exceeds my wildest dreams.

The collective learning has been extraordinary, imo, & that's why days like yesterday are good for us, or deffo me - I don't have any ego issues with making bad decisions, but I do like to learn from them.

Most of today's debate came aboiut because we missed two good bets - Watford, & TL900's NBA jobbie. So you might even say we won on those 2 bets.  Wink

I have a question Tony, was there any hesitation on your part to bets put up in the last week to protect the monthly figures with only a few days of November left?

None whatsoever Phil.

There is a flip side to that, too - should we try & reach the magic £1,000 in November? Same answer, no!

If anything, based on my business past, when I was ultra-ultra-extremely-ultra-nitty with management of Company Accounts, and I liked to try & keep a little wool on my back for possible tougher times ahead, I was sorely tempted to write off in November some of our obviously bad/losing bets which have not matured yet - the Dai Greene type bets, as an example. But I can't really, the spready discipline is sacrosant, & it would be wrong to mess with it.

As for preserving what we have, or trying to stretch for a few more quid to make the numbers look good, I learned that lesson the hard way, when I used to buy & sell a goodly few stocks & shares. I'm way too tired to relate the tales tonight, & they'd probably bore the pants off everyone, but going back 25 years or more, I three times lost decent 5 figure sums because I was trying to aim for daft targets, "vanity targets".

i.e., in just one of those three cases, I purchased 4,000 shares at 25p, knowng they might well be a ramp, as two rogues ran the business, then watched them soar to £3.89, &  thought "as soon as they reach £4 I'll sell". You know the end of that story......

Interestingly, (?....) that company was named "Regentcrest plc" & it went tits up, busto, properly busto, & the shares became worthless.

Regentcrest was really owned by, & was a vehicle for, twin brothers based in the West Midlands, the Black Country really, they controlled it even though it was a pukka plc.

Their names were Don & Roy Richardson, aka "The Richardson Twins", & I knew them through the construction business, not to be confused with the gangsta Richardsons in London.  Anyway, Regentcrest went skinto, but Don & Roy were not troubled by such a minor setback, & using their own cash, via a private company, they developed a plot of derelict land in the West Midlands & made an absolute fortune from it. The project was to become a shopping centre, still there to this day, called "The Merry Hill Centre". I can't drive past it even now without rueing my stupidity with those Regentcrest shares.

I'm OK with it though, if I HAD sold at the top & scooped my £16k or whatever (remember, this was around 1985, when £16k was a fortune) , I'd only have lost it in some other way. I must have lost 4 fortunes in my time. Bit of a shame I only ever had 3 fortunes to lose.

Talking of fortunes to lose, I think Adam Scott, Keegan Bradly and co may lose a few quid in the coming years

Alternatively, get behind him should Mrs Lewis give birth to healthy little one  beforehand and also have a tickle of him in the PDC.....

Ooh yes, I forgot that. When does that take effect?

They do have until 2016 to develop a new putting technique though.

Its due to be implemented in 2016, whether it will or not is another matter
