Reckon Jimmy Anderson is already looking forward to the nz tour. They are currently 27/5 after choosing to bat against sa. Philander's figures are 4.1-3-4-5.

Seaming, swinging wickets tho. Jimmy should have a screaming hissy fit if they rested him there rather than the subcontinent

"I gather Watford lost 4-3 at home to Charlton today. Well hard to make a profit in the Championship betting market."

Watford's defending was abysmal today without Fitz Hall, who hobbled off against Brighton.  Neuton has a lot of talent but just don't think a ball playing brazilian centre back is suited to the Championship - he needs to be moved to full back when he plays.  I think they'll bring in another centre back in January which will probably be the only addition along with Piotr Zielinksi.

Deeney and Vydra were rested for the game, but this wasn't the problem as Geijo and Forestieri played well.  Will be interesting to see what team Man City field against us in the Cup on Saturday - I assume they will go full strength being out of Europe already.

"Finally, quick thanks to bookiebasher who gave us Evens Taylor when he was odds-on, though later the prices flip-flopped. His generosity cost him £150. "

It cost me way more than £150 but it certainly wasn't due to my generosity. Got the market right , result wrong.

Laid a bit off on Taylor at 3-1 in running but it still hurt and that's how it should be. You can't enjoy the highs of
betting/winning if your not prepared to take the downside.

Great thread , great posters , no niggly/silly arguments , best on blonde by a country mile.

Also far too much theatrics from the Hornets trying to con the referee.  Neuton nearly got a double booking for consecutive dives but the referee thought better of it!  Quite surreal to see your centre back flinging himself around.

Further to post yesterday, now the dust has settled.

Having taken on board a few of the comments, my proposal would be a small yankee based around horses we are pretty certain this is their sole objective. I also seemed to have engineered a team with lots of "been there, done that" about them, always a good starting point. Finally, I think all these horses will start considerably shorter on the day, assuming we get traditional festival ground, having look like they are all being prepared with the festival as the sole aim

Rock on Ruby- Champion Hurdle 10-1
Sir Des Champs- Gold Cup 7-1
Boston Bob- RSA 10-1
Champion Court-Ryanair 10-1

These are the best mix and match at, surprisingly, Sadjokes.

Yes, I am sure we all have fancies in each of the races, but each have solid ew credentials, and as I have said, it is their sole target, and all have festival winning form bar Champion Court, who finished a worthy second to SDC last year, and at the distance of his intended race was going as well as aanything in the recent King George.

Happy to discuss alternatives, but recomend a smal £1 ew yankee to Fred, if no pushback on selections

disagree really you need a world class seamer in india as Anderson proved

you dont in new zealand, one of the reasons why england generally have done well and will continue to do so is unlike india they have rotated there squad in all formats to keep things moving

That's all fair comment. To rest Jimmy, I'd argue we would need Broad firing, as he can offer something with the bat as well, so bringing in Onions or Finn doesn't lengthen the tail.

Yes it is all about making sure he's in prime spot for back to back ashes and I (I can't believe I'm about to type this) trust the ECB to get the decision right on him.

I have no opinion on the horses but wouldn't it be better as a "Lucky 15" if bookies offer x odds for one winner?

to be fair they have done a good job the last decade in general

i still remember the headlines that were verging on xenophobic when duncan fletcher came in ( we dont need a foreigner we are england) and less so when flower came in (what does a Zimbabwean no about cricket, ignore the fact he was a world class test circketer)

Medium size value (+interest) bet.

York City in League 2 to make the top 7 (play-offs or above)

14/1

6 points off the play-offs currently on 34 points, 7th has 40. Beat Burton 3-0 yesterday.  Positive manager in Gary Mills, talks well and building good foundations there.

Lots of clubs competing in this league, little between 10-12 teams in the middle of the league and whoever strings some results together will make up positions 5/6/7.  Saw them at Fleetwood on saturday, well organised and should have won against a good side. Two attacking players currently out injured too in Chambers & Coulson.

Finished last season strongly with two wembley appearances so hopefully can repeat the 'after xmas' showing.

Price is wrong, should be 7/1 - 8/1 ish.

£25/£30 would be fine.

Thoughts on Everton 7/1 for a top four finish? Looks big to me. Especially with Arsenal being so hit and miss.
