Surprised no one mentioned the clash of the giants tonight at the Theatre of Dreams - Brentford v Southend.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/fa-cup/brentford-v-southend/winner

Note the "Anytime Goalscorer" price for one Gavin Tomlin, aka Son of Rastafish........

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/fa-cup/brentford-v-southend/anytime-goalscorer

Mr Tomlin Senior will be present at the game tonight to cheer on his lad. Can you imagine the noise if he scores?

If ever there was time to bet with my heart not my head, it would be tonight, on Gavin. However, Brentford are gonna kill dem.

Yes - or that is my understanding, yes, he is.

tikay hasn't been around to consider Ant's suggestion, but 7 changes for Palace at Stoke. The 4 who keep their place from Saturday are Ramage, Delaney, Jedinak and Zaha. Shows Holloway's priorities?

Stoke play 8 of the 11 who played Saturday.

I wondered about Fulham at nearly 2-1 at Blackpool, but agree its an uninspring betting night.

Understand how I have been sold a dummy if Holloway plays the first leg with basically our full team and then puts in these relative randoms. Wilbrahim should be a good replacement for Murray, Easter is a waste of space on the right wing for us, Zaha should have an OK game. Jedinek and Williams are both basically first team regulars and its encouraging they are playing. I have no idea how Boeteng plays, heard good things though and hope he fills the the rest of the centre midfield well.

Parsons at LB has apprently been knocking on the door to get a start for a while now, so should be interesting to see how he plays. Gabiddon in CB with Delaney and oddly enough Ramage playing RB. He has played there probs three times all season and we have looked much better for it, maybe because he is a good right back or what I think is because he isn't infecting the CB role! Gabiddon and Delaney is our best partnership, so with that in place and if they play solidly you may never know. Price in goal is a solid enough number two and if I am not mistaken, is currently Wales' number 1 goalkeeper.

Stoke playing 7 starters from Saturday though is a little worrying and would proceed with caution with this bet.

Would say the value is lost mainly because Murray isn't starting, (even with the other factors 6.5 was still too high for me, but now isn't really) so would say no bet now. If he was starting, I would have priced this up as a 5.5 with still quite a bit of value. Wilbrahim is getting his chance now so hopefully the bet i made earlier can hold. £100 on the double chance if anyone is asking. I would not have put as much on if I waited for the team sheet!

Another factor as an aside for all of the second leg ties tonight is, surely the draw is going to be more prevalent after 90 mins with teams thinking about the long haul and holding for penalites and the better sides not pushing as hard in the final 10 mins knowing there could be another 30 mins available? Helps me with my double chance bet.

Zaha starting while all those around him are rested means he's definitely being sold this month, I assume?

Stokes side looks very solid. Simple 2-0 win.

I've only backed Bournemouth so far.

Re the Splash Series 2 bet, this seems like a good bet given these ratings.

4.25m watched Mrs Brown's Boys.

No. Stop. No, I've done enough ranting today.

No.

Support this - just had same convo with Cas, ditto Sunderland, no Fletcher but enough to win.

Splash at least has some slapstick value, with Mrs Brown's Boys, I want to self harm.

Zaha starting while all those around him are rested means he's definitely being sold this month, I assume?

Chairman and manager have gone as far as basically confirming that he is staying on after January. Nearly certainly after a loan back for the rest of the season after around a £12m deal with one of the big clubs.

Just seems odd not to rest him then.

I think Holloway is exposing him as much as possible to try and shake off his odd current form.

Sir Alex Ferguson was scheduled to be at Stoke v Palace tonight but is not here. Make of that what you will ... #mufc

Perhaps a move for Zaha has fallen through?

I don't want to stir up a settled argument.....

But my use of the word guesstimate was quite deliberate.

I thought the sample size was far too small to make a reliable estimate of the correct price of the QB, so I was guessing, with a small element of statistical evidence to back up my guess.

As to the price, I'm quite prepared to concede 4/6 the QB is MVP is value. But it's never as short as 1/3 as Neil suggests imo.

All understood, sir. As I said, I knew exactly what you meant and I recognise it's a word.

Your post above says you were guessing and that was the heart of my poorly constructed* and ill-fated grumble: you can say either guess or estimate and choosing one over the other implies the balance of knowledge/calculation/experience used. The word guesstimate solves a problem that doesn't exist and I was pointing out I don't like it.

It was academic but fervently defended. Nevertheless, it's over now Smiley

All of this detracts from the unanimously-loathed recency.

Uncle Tikay, may I be excused?

* oh the irony of starting an argument about the clarity of language and not getting my point across...

While all this was going on I managed to introduce the word Kaepernicking to the thread without so much as a peep.

Everyone's probably a little worried about seeming Kaepernickety now..
