That's bizarre!

Sure is

Silva who is arguably at least top 5 defenders in the world spent two whole seasons at Porto and Dynamo Moscow and never played a game

Certainly are players out there if you look hard enough/get lucky

In laymans terms, can someone explain to me how the bookies know how it is sent from mobile, ipad or lappy?

was thinking this

i tried to just do the £20 through the hills mobile site but online (if that makes sense) but it did not work

so i presume they must have a detection system of sorts?

fans of scottish right backs may be interested/laugh at the fact Alan Hutton is up for a nomination from Marca for "biggest loser" this season in la liga

Daily Report

Profit on the Month £42.15

Outstanding Bets £1,016.25

On one of Fred's quietest Sunday's ever, just 2 bets completed, both went south, & we deopsited £35 into the satchels of those apparently horrible bookie chaps.

We had a RL bet which had to win by 1 - 12 points, (£15) & it ended up as a draw, & Miss shin got blown away - literally - in a weather-ravaged Golf Tournament. We should follow Miss Shin a little longer, imo, she is a class act.

That was it, really.

Nothing planned for today so far.

Live Sport on TV this evening includes TB40 (cricket, of a sort) & Super League.

Interesting how little interest there was generally in the England friendly v Brazil, & the ODI v New Zealand.

Meanwhile, in poker news, Chompy played the monthly £100 jobbie at Luton, & was busted by none other than John Black.

Morning Mr T.

Still no action in the fennel bed.

The CESM bet yesterday was a tad unlucky, they had the ball  in Widnes's 22 but messed up the drop goal attempt in the last minute. In tonight's game Huddersfield host St Helens. We have been opposing St Helens recently as they have had injuries and playing badly. Tonight they should have Wellens, Meli and Roby back but Huddersfield are playing well and with good weather and at home should have too much scoring power for St Helens. I thought the handicap would be 6-8  points but at the moment we can get on with just 4 points to make up.

Suggest £22 Huddersfield -4 @ 10/11 with Betvictor, Paddy or Coral.

Morning h.

Can barely believe you did not do the Houdini thing last night.

Fennel? Give up. Have a sausage sarnie instead.

The Super League Game is on Sky Sports this evening, so we can have a little TV sweat, lovely.

I did try to watch the Moto GP yesterday, but I appeared to fall asleep.

£22 @ 10/11, BetVictor, Huddersfield (-4) over St Helens.

ON

Huddersfield v St. HelensHuddersfield -4 (3-Way Handicap)Odds: 10/11 Stake: 22.00Possible Return:  42.00

Not universally adored is Mr Hutton.

Incidentally, I was at Wembley a few years ago for a pre-season tournament of Spurs v Barcelona('s third team) and Celtic v Al Ahly of Egypt. The Celtic game was on first and their fans - based in one corner of the ground - stayed for the first half of the spurs game, seemingly specifically to boo Alan Hutton as right back (as a former Rangers player).

Only discovered this myself on the weekend, but you can sometimes find the same line available on the "no draw handicap" at the same price.  Obviously the slight advantage here is you swerve the handicap draw killing your bet.

In this example Boyles offer Huddersfield -4.5 @ 10/11

Good Baseball results last night...

Tampa Bay Rays crushed the Cleveland Indians 11-3

A double good result in the other game as Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 3-0

Some proper comedy flaming may follow.

Don't watch it but...any views on the next Doctor?

As forward-thinking as the writers are, I can't help but think it's unlikely to be a woman.

Russell Tovey is well-known in the "cult" world from his role as George the werewolf in Being Human. He was one of the favourites last time but was beaten in 2008 by Matt Smith. He'd probably be a more vulnerable Doctor (his roles tend to go that way) and would offer a new angle for the writers.

Now for the betting bit.

He's 9/1 on betfair and 10/1 with Hills and Corals. New market by the looks of it on betfair, so I'm not sure how that works re "beating betfair".

I know I sometimes use beating Betfair as a guide for value, so maybe I am to blame for this.

What has happened on the Doctor Who market is that somebody has just thrown a few prices up on this market.  They may well have to just taken the prices off Hills and Corals as a base for the ones they chose to use on Betfair.  Currently, there have been two bets made on this market, both on David Harewood for a total of £37.  This isn't anything close to the volume needed where you can rely that the prices are even vaguely correct.

If you are going to rely on a Betfair market as a reliable indicator for value, I'd say you would want a market where:
 several thousand pounds have been bet as a minimum;
 several "horses" have been backed;
 people wanting to both back and lay your "horse";
 and a small gap between the buy and sell prices (preferably).

Without those things, I would say that the Betfair market is fairly useless as an indicator.  FWIW The exciteable David Harewood backer(s) has taken 2/1 and 6/1.  If he had waited, he could have got 16s at SkyBet, as he could if he wanted to back Tovey.

Spreadsheet Error?

His Honourable Tightness, despite his Wembley exertions, has been on my case this morning.

It seems I settled "Mars" in the Derby as a £25 loser, when in fact it was a £25 Free Bet.

I've not had a delve yet, but assuming he is correct, I will amend the Spready tomorrow, which will give us a £25 bonus.

Feel free to take a look, & comment accordingly.
