^ Like this horsey.

The top three in the market, Assombalonga, surly Baldock and Garner, are all possibles to move on in January, if not before. After that it's 16-1 bar and there are plenty towards the top end of the list I couldn't have on my mind at all. For example, neither Nicky Ajose nor Erhun Oztumer should be above Conor Washington among the Poshies. Conor and Britt is our strike-force for the season and there might not be much between them this time.

Think we should start building a League One portfolio.

£5 EW AJ Leitch-Smith, 200-1 Freesiksfive (down to horsey)
£5 EW Jonson Clarke-Harris, 100-1 BMU (down to me)
£10 EW Conor Washington, 40-1 Billies (down to me)

Any love for Theo Robinson at 66-1?  Donny unlucky to go down last year, and he will be the main man there this year after they sold Chris Brown to Blackburn?

Donny ST holder here, and whilst Theo might get a few, supporters are seriously worried ATM, no agreement on playing budget, no keeper yet on the books, last nights friendly away at Conference Grimsby none of the players from last season who were out of contract played due to ongoing player budget problem (did win 4-0 though!!!)

As it stands the 11/8 Yeovil for opening game looks attractive. Going to wait a little longer before doing a recommend on it though.

Its looking like Doncaster will be in for a tough season. Only 11 players on the books at the moment. Captain and best player Richie Wellens just said on radio Sheffield
@jonathanbuchan: Wellens 'We had agreed terms & thought I was going to stay, but I don't think manager has the funds to get other players to compete' #DRFC

@jonathanbuchan: Wellens 'now looks unlikely that myself and the other lads (trialists and out of contract players) are going to stay' #drfc

@jonathanbuchan: Wellens on Dickov 'Someone I have got a lot of respect for and believe in time he will be a good manager, but working with hands tied' #DRFC

@jonathanbuchan: Wellens told me he agreed to stay at the end of the season and has turned down a Champ club, all on basis of Ryan/Tomlinson takeover #drfc

On this basis think the 11/8 Yeovil on opening game looks good, so recommend £20 at 11/8, and also £10 on Doncaster to be relegated at 20/1 (Tote, Baldfred and Betway)

Looks like being a tough season as a Donny supporter!!!

Championship top scorer

Two suggestions

1. Gary Hooper £20 e/w Coral/Hill/Betfair sportsbook 20-1 1/4 1,2,3,4

2 Matt Fryatt £10 e/w Coral 40-1 1/4 1,2,3,4

As usual a very competitive heat, with McCormack and Jordan Rhodes leading the ante-post

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/top-goalscorer

- Hooper.

A prolific scorer at Scunthorpe and Celtic. The last time he was in the Championship he scored 20 in 39 for a relegated side in 2009-10, whcih secured his move to celtic. I saw him 5 or 6 times that season and his guile was far too much for Championship defenders. He had no service at all either

he joined Norwich last season, and was immediately injured and once in the side for good scored 6 in the top flight in a struggling side

He will be on penalties

Snodgrass has gone, which is reputed to be very good for Norwich team spirit. Norwich themselves have kept the squad together bar Snodgrass, expect top 10

With Hooper's record at this level I would expect 15+ goals as a minimum assuming fitness. Last year needed 18+ to secure a top 4 goalscorer finish

- Fryatt. Now at Forest.

Scored 1 in 2 in this division last year for Sheff Wed, having spent two years not getting in the Hull team/injured. not a premiership player as he lacks a yard of pace but against lower than top class opponents he's excellent, as 4 goals in 6 fa cup games showed last season

In the championship though that is less of an issue, and in the likes of Lansbury, patterson, reid etc he will get a lot of chances created for him, and he is a terrific finisher. Also a penalty taker

I watched him a lot a few years ago, and he is under-rated. tend to agree with this article

http://www.nottinghampost.com/Garry-Birtles-Matty-Fryatt-Forest-s-20-goal-man/story-21224258-detail/story.html

A 40-1 springer that could easily be in the mix, and i would assume Forest will be towards the right end of the table too which helps

I know you won't back your own recommends unless prompted Rich, so place both of those bets please, unless any of the experts are negative on them.

One more

League 2

Newport County £10 e/w 33/1 Betfred 1/4 1,2,3

Newport County £20 Promotion at 7-1 Ladbrokes/Hills/Betfair Sportsbook

In their first season back in the league Newport finished 14th with 58 points

This though hides a much better trend than this

At the end of February the side was 7th, haivng been in or around the play-offs since October onwards

At that point they were severely hampered by their groundshare at Rodney Parade, which they share with Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC, and the pitch was unplayable for weeks

A raft of postponements left them playing three times a week from March onwards and their form fell away

If we leave the pitch aside for a minute this is a team with a significant home advantage, a tough place to go, open ground, passionate fans playing a style with 5-3-2/wing backs and a lot of pace that a lot of League 2 does not play/counter very well

this time round there has been work on the pitch, to help drainage. Its a delicate one as you want the games played but you don't want teams to turn up and see a bowling green. it is after all a rugby pitch so its still going to be tough for opponents to go to

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28333263

with a year in the league, a slightly larger squad and a style taht plays well in league two i think Newport are going to be right up there this time round

they have a 15 goal striker from last season in Zebrowski (crosses from the wing backs, big battering ram) have added rene howe from burton and have a very talented lad called joe parker who is being compared to conor washington, who was at newport last season and now at peterborough

all the buzz is about luton at around 7-1 to go up again, whereas 33-1 newport gives you the same idea (conference sides can go through the leagues quickly) at nearly five times the price, assuming they don't get the fixture backlog that stuffed them last year

Like both at the prices.  Given they are going to be the main strikers for top half teams amazing to see them at the prices they are given their previous clubs/scoring records at the level.  Both at or close to their prime age wise as well.

Do these two too, please Rich. (In addition to the two Goalscorer ones earlier).

Was going to suggest Hooper myself last night but ran out of time

Would be a lot lot sweeter personally on him than Fryatt even at double the price
