meanwhile in Vegas

More bets have been placed on Tiger Woods to win the Masters than Rory McIlroy. Twice as many, in fact.

Sky Sports "On The Range" (Live from Augusta) just showed Jiminez doing his "warm-up routine".

Pot bellied, great big turd of a cigar in his mouth, 51 years of age, & still gets the job done.

Proper character, & the Gallery were roaring in approval.

I'm sure you could find a decent bet in here for the UKIPT 5-aside football tournament next tuesday.

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=65267.msg2037200#msg2037200

DTD 9/1
Broadway 9/4fav
Birmingham 5/1
London+essex 5/1
Newcastle 5/1
West London 8/1
Europe 25/1
Stragglers 66/1

Full squads can be posted if required but didn't want to clog up the thread with a huge post! £20 is maxbet.

Not had a bet yet but might want to look at the Top Debutant market also, couple of firms you can bet with are going 4 places, it's 19 runners but 7 are 80/1+

thanks

http://www.oddschecker.com/golf/the-masters/top-debutant

any ideas?

the 7 outsiders the amateurs

I quite like the look of Parsnip Pete in the Red Rum Chase at 4.40 tomorrow.

He won the race last year and won again at Aintree since and seems about a stone better horse here than anywhere else.

He looks to have been set aside for this race all year, and his eyecatching hurdle race LTO when he ran at Newbury had me note him down for this race.

I got very excited for a few seconds when the Sporting Life forecast SP was 50-1, but sadly he is priced up at only 16s with VC.

In fact I think last years race holds the key as the two dangers may well be Astracad and claret Cloak who filled the places behind him.

Lets have a small interest and have £7.5 ew at 16-1 Parsnip Pete.

Hopefully got one in the Topham at around 25s, but will wait for the final decs before posting.

Paris-Roubaix on Sunday.

http://www.oddschecker.com/cycling/one-day-classics/paris-roubaix/winner

Just a prompt really for CWS & nell if they have any thoughts?

I've Vanmarcke from earlier in the season when he was looking like the Classics rider to beat, but after Flanders not so sure, & price has drifted.

Wiggins has been tipped up by a few Pros in the peloton, Boonen & Paulini have both mentioned he is the favourite. Certainly this is his season's goal & training has been geared for here. Certainly can't see it if it rains, dry though, just maybe he ends his road career with a win in the toughest Classic?

just spotted this to throw on the information bonfire

J. Walker is the most popular bet at @PinnacleSports to win The Masters, followed by Spieth, Tiger, , Rory, Day, Holmes, Westwood & Phil.

Bubba said he was unpopular with the players. If more people have bet Westwood than him, he IS unpopular all round!!

Tighty.

What's not to love about roasted parsnips drizzled with honey, or covered with Parmesan? It is not like we are dealing with the Devils food - sprouts.

My reasoning for Murali. I followed him closely on their last tour when he was unlucky to lose to Kohli but he cemented his place as first choice opener, which will take the pressure off him. I was surprised to see him hit a number of 6's in that test series. His record in IPL is OK averaging 25 with a strike rate of 120 ish.

In last seasons IPL 3 of the top 5 run scorers were openers which I like. What made the bet for me was that he has switched from Delhi to Punjab this season. Punjab posted 8 out of 15 of the biggest scores last season including all the top 4 so I figure their pitch is good to bat on and maybe short boundaries too.

At 50-1 he is the same price as Tiger for the Masters that Tikay has decided to invest in. I know which one I would rather be on. How about you?

what i would say is that a lot of the KXIP scores were compiled by maxwell from overs 10-20 smashing it all over, which on his day he'll do irrespective of pitch

in 4 of the matches last year maxwell hit

95 off 43
89 off 45
95 off 43 again
90 off 38

in three of those games they hit the highest IPL scores of the year

as to your question, as i wanted to be on tiger to miss the cut (since when multiple reports tell us that practice is impressive, its the "old tiger" etc etc) then i'd rather take vijay!

Tiger to miss the cut or to shoot 74 or worse in round 1 are bets I like. I don't believe reports saying that Tiger is playing superbly. It's like those reports of Wardle firing in 180's for fun down the pub. You just don't know who started them.

Also, Tighty said......

Maybe Dubai started the rumour?

Seriously, don't be put off by my blatherings, feel free to go ahead. I know nothing about golf, & I've maybe gone soft in the head.

I just love to see people make comebacks after a bit of bad, even if it is their own fault. It would be an amazing story if he played well this week.

He has won it 4 times, once by 12 strokes.

In the last 9 Masters outings, he has finished......

1st

3rd

2nd

2nd

6th

4th

40th

4th

4th

I don't expect him to do well, but I'd love him to.

If he plays well, it'll enable me to (just about) put up with that oh-so schmaltzy TV coverage, which includes bile-inducing sentimental plinker plonka piano & strings music, soft focus lens, Monty's musings & scowls, & even Sarah.

Go on, bet on him to miss the cut.

This week, I shall mainly be contrarian, obdurate & grumpy.
