Anyway, I'm better with NFL in general.

Should we be on the Vikings to win the NFC North at 19/20 (10/11 in most places https://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/nfc-north/winner)? With the Rodgers injury they're surely in pole position now, and as the Packers have a now tough matchup vs the Saints and the Vikings should beat the Ravens, that's a 2 game swing straight away with the Vikings having the head to head advantage currently as well.

If things go as the bookie expect this weekend you could probably hedge with (I'm guessing) around 3/1 on the Packers after the weekend?

not worried about Detroit?

Today's late Premier League game is Southampton at home to WBA.

Not much between the two teams, neither are setting the world on fire, but I was surprised at the price WBA are;

Southampton 5/6

Draw 5/2

WBA 4/1 or 9/2 in places.

Are those prices about right? Thought WBA would be a good bit shorter, but maybe I'm missing something. Like, football knowledge.

Very high quality card at Ascot this afternoon, even without a bet it should be worth watching.

For those who want a wager, be aware it rained heavily all night in the area, so the ground will likely have plenty of cut.

The last race of the day is a 23 runner handicap where they go 7/2 the top two, then 10/1 bar the rest, with 4 or 5 places on offer generally.

Frankly, no, not really. Although the bye week could help them out. Although both teams have tough schedules and the Vikings is probably harder with Atlanta still on the horizon. So you've got me a little more concerned now!

I don't think Minnesota represent much value at the price. I reckon worst case for GB is in the price and Detroit aren't out of it. Rodgers is the very best but history tells us the market overrates how much impact missing superstar players has.

I like Stamp Hill here, course form (so important at Ascot) and will like the ground, which many of these won't. We probably need 5 places 1/4 though, which I don't think we can get at the moment. I'll keep an eye on Oddschecker.

Don't think it's certain to run - 23 runners declared, but it's maxed at 20, & it's not quoted by most firms.

That's fair enough. I'm not on it myself but was looking at it as a possible bet for the rest of the season, especially if things go as I think they will today the Vikings will be 1.5 games ahead at the top and that price will probably halve.

Ha, don't worry, even assuming I am right, which is by no means certain. I've seen far worse - one fella put a tip up yesterday for his next holiday destination.

City have recalled Joe Hart for this afternoon, Burnley now in to 11/4.

Neville described Hart last night as "feet stuck in cement". He meant concrete, one assumes.

What a lovely team Watford have become.

They are currently leading Chelsa 2-1 at the Bridge - should be 4-1 - and are tearing Chelsea's defence apart.

Cracking, open game, too, no fluke about the scoreline either.
