Does anyone think a general election will happen? The markets seem to think so:

https://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-politics/year-of-next-general-election

I just can't see any Tories actually thinking its a good idea unless they want to lose.

I spose May has a shot at a 'Under me England won the World Cup' taglin though.

I'm totally devoted to the idea of a second referendum now we've witnessed 2 years of chat. Kinda prefer the idea of the electorate getting a clear choice rather than watch politicians bumble on. Obvious downsides, democracy blah but it would be better if we just voted again than have this rabble continue ' negotiations'.

The 2 years have clarified options. I don't know if one can withdraw article 50 notice but if you can I'd withdraw and then offer a choice of

A) leave the eu with no deal based on art 50 timelines triggered on the day after the referendum if leave win
B) remain

What's being negotiated now is remain anyway. Not saying that isn't pragmatic but it feels like the most nonsensical of outcomes whether you voted leave or remain

At Chequers, Theresa May blurred her red lines. But the EU will put huge pressure on her to cross them to get a deal

https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2018/07/how-much-more-unpalatable-will-the-eu-make-this-deal/

Heard someone reference the marx quote on radio earlier.

"Those are my principles and if you don't like them..well, I have others"

All good fun

That's been Ralph's strap-line for months.

I’m on board for this. It would be interesting to hear the views of a staunch leaver though. It’s almost clever from May to start calling remain ‘Brexit’, it allows leavers to say that they won. Do they want anything more than that?

Odds on another general election must be narrowing considerably...see Barry above

I’ve seen some political strokes in my time. But Boris resignation tops the lot. Delivers passionate speech telling Cabinet to back May on Friday evening. Stabs her in the back on Monday. All because he’s terrified DD has got the jump on him over the leadership. Quite amazing.

At this point it's probably worth noting that friends of Liam Fox say he has always wanted to be foreign secretary

which would just about top it off.

Politicians come and go but the problems they have created for people remain. I can only regret that the idea of #Brexit has not left with Davis and Johnson. But...who knows?
