What seems to be constantly forgotten is that leave voters all knew there would be short term economic consequences of leaving.

That was made clear time and time again by remain. Despite this, like it or not, the public voted to leave.

The short term economic arguments are a complete red herring. It’s about our long term position outside the EU. This seems to be ignored in the current debate. I have a feeling we won’t starve.

I think ‘short term’ looks like being decades and there’s certainly no suggestion that anything improves from leaving. We’ll just be small and at the mercy of the relatively massive trading blocs. We’ll need to rejoin as quickly as possible, hopefully the EU will make adopting the euro a condition of rejoining.

You just lost whatever small semblance of credibility that I might once have given you. The euro is a busted flush. There simply isn’t a way to have a common currency without having a common fiscal policy and that just can’t happen.

Just checking on this (I missed it before). You are saying the euro will be discontinued? It isn’t me who has credibility issues, I’m just thinking longer term.

Remain have been bleating ask the people forever

Hey presto chance to ask the people in GE

Nope let’s block that

More like they've put Dominic Cummings in check-mate.

Check-mate signals end of the game.

Unfortunately this means further endless delays and continuation of the crippling uncertainty

As long as you can best some nobody spin doctor it’s all worthwhile I’m sure

Let’s see what occurs today. Considering Boris is an inept, simpleton, evil dictator and liar the opposition should fist pump taking him on in an election

The dishonesty, which is so evidently already causing him big problems in the HoC, seems to he less of a problem with the electorate. I think he probably goes well in a GE at the moment. He has one huge problem though. What sort of Brexit is he campaigning for? He needs to pretend he’ll no deal but he still can’t actually do it, if he’s in any way honest about Brexit, he is vulnerable to Farage. If he comes out campaigning for any form of deal, Farage says “PM Dipshit is betraying Brexit” (or words to that effect) and any chance of a Conservative majority is gone. So it’s all about the campaign message for Brexit and it’s clearly not easy, if they get that right (is there an answer?) then he probably goes well. Quite amazing really when you consider the events of yesterday.

He won’t get an election until the No Deal bill has Royal Assent.

There are also signs of pragmatism from JC (finally). There will be an anti Boris/anti Brexit alliance. Scotland is gone, lots to admire about the SNP atm.

It isn’t an enlightened few, there must be > 10 million who truly can’t believe that the PM is Dipshit Johnson, there will be some backlash from moderate tories.

Boris withdrawing the whip seems a big mistake to me. Must make the likelihood of a significant number of those standing as independents at the election, mean his chance of majority diminishes.

Amazing that he goes well in a GE because only the enlightened few no the real truth.

Not really fair this voting business when only the few know best.

Should just let you Adz and Woodsey run the gaff sure would be a massive success (in your heads anyway)

Not sure what Boris ultimate game is but it feels like he is trying to take politics back to when there was a clear divide between the Cons and the Labs. They are 2 similar since the days of Bliar and Cameron. British politics needs this overhaul for the electorate to start gaining faith in British politics again.

Such a shame the long standing family nanny didn't come along with a cup of tea for him and tuck him into bed.

Just searched  #PMQs while I'm getting my infusion, and it looks like Boris has had another mare today?

Said some of the sacked MPs just plotted up in their normal spot.

Are they meant to sit somewhere else now?

There isn’t really modern precedent for it on this scale. Most of them are much more respected members of the Conservative Party than Boris will ever be, so I guess they think they should sit wherever they like on the Conservative benches.

I think some of them anticipate having the whip restored at some stage, notably Stewart and Benyon (and I’m sure some others).

I would not recognise many of them, but Kenneth Clarke is in the same seat as he was yesterday, though maybe he is subject to some special rules by virtue of being Father of the House.

This is kind of what I was asking before.

Papers reporting they have been sacked, but in any other role if you went and sat at your desk the next day you would be escorted off the premises.

They just aren’t Conservatives any more. They remain MP’s until an election/by-election. None of them were in ministerial roles.
