Surely this can't be true?

Why do the tabloids give this stuff any credence? I didn’t read the article in the Sun, because it is one of the websites I refuse to visit. It sounded unlikely from the url though.

Anyways, no, it’s not true.

What a story this is.

When the Berlin Wall came down I thought that was that, I didn't consider the huge logistical problem of merging the two halves of the city, much less the 'who is responsible for what question'.

Even if I had, I wouldn't have imagined that things could go tits up on such a massive scale.

Berlin Brandenburg: The airport with half a million faults.

So many of these political vanity projects go awry that we should perhaps be less surprised at this.
The list on wiki is less than comprehensive as to UK projects, it misses Wembley and the Channel Tunnel.
It has a couple more from Germany though.

I dread to think what the final figures will be for HS2.

I bet the truth about HS2 doesn't emerge for 50 years.

The smart-meter fiasco is a bigger balls-up than they are letting on too.

I'm just beginning to wonder if I'm too cynical for my own good.

I poo poo everything, if it doesn't hit the spot and fall within the narrow boundaries of what I think will be acceptable to me I just don't give it a chance.

Example- TV programme Pawn Stars. Now I've always dismissed it as typical overhyped, overblown, over edited American crap, but I've just watched an episode and it was actually OK, especially when you remember that before it was a TV programme this was actually a successful functioning family business founded in Las Vegas by "Old Man" Richard Benjamin Harris almost 40 years ago. (His wiki page is worth a look).

The items brought in for sale and the appraisal system I found really interesting in a chintzy sort of way, and I like that exaggerated respect thing that Americans do when they're dealing with each other.

"Thank you"
"Well thank you too sir"
"Y'all come back and see us again real soon"
"I surely will"

This doesn't mean I'm going to be giving everything a go, I'm still drawing the line at:

Love Island.
Geordie Shore.
Lip sync battle.

Neither will I be trying clairvoyance, feng shui, tantric sex, bifidus actiregularis, veganism, aroma therapy, snap on braces or the Tommy Hilfiger Eau de Toilette cologne gift set any time soon, but all in all, I do think I'm making progress.

Factoid.

From 1978 to 1989, the use, ownership and sale of skateboards was forbidden in Norway.

Forget skateboards, until 1989 beer was banned in Iceland.

There's some amazing stuff if you start looking.

Baby walkers are banned in Canada in an effort to keep children safe. They were banned in 2004, meaning babies can only crawl until they learn to walk on their own. If you’re caught with a baby walker in your possession (or you’re selling one), you can be fined up to $100,000.

Somehow, I just can't get into women's football.

I've tried several time but I'm a afraid the highlight for me was when the commentator said, "The Chilean team look impenetrable".

I wonder how many women are watching it?
