I heard on the news this morning that due to gender identification you can no longer use the term "Breast feeding" it has to be "Chest feeding" and breast milk becomes "Human milk"

What a load of bollocks. (I wonder if your still allowed to say bollocks?

Fray Bentos used to do a boil in the can steak and kidney pudding. I remember my granny used to occasionally do one for her dinner and she would always give me a taste on the end of a knife. (She ate off a flat bladed, flexible knife, a habit I picked up)

Obviously I took no real notice back then, but I can't remember her piercing it before boiling.

I tried to google it but it's difficult because it's been superseded by a modern version.

I had a friend who's go to meal was a Fray Bentos steak and kidney pudding with a tin of new potatoes and marrowfat peas and they kept a tin opener about 4 inches long and an inch wide and one end used to punch a triangle shaped hole in the tins which they said was especially for this job. Come to think of it I can't remember the last time I saw one of these type of tin openers.

I remember those tin openers, I didn't know what the triangle was for until now though.

One of these?

Usually those spreading such 'news' are looking to cause such a reaction to turn people against gender identification.

That's a good point Rod.

I'm absolutely not against gender identification or gender reassignment. What does piss me off is people expecting the whole world to change petty things to accommodate it.

And I'm sure you are right, it's the shit stirrers that make all the noise.

Oh and those parents who don't assign a sex to their baby until it's old enough to decide for itself.

There was one maternity unit, who looked to have produced one leaflet, covering the services offered by their unit in Brighton.  We are not affected at all, and even most of the people of Brighton aren't going to notice any difference in their daily lives.

Do people who live in Brighton even get upset by this?  I assume most are more tolerant than average.

The wording seems to be optional even there.

Developing an infant feeding plan, which may include breast/chestfeeding or expressing milk

They just seem to be giving their trans parents choices in how they describe themselves and their bodies.

Piers Morgan and the Daily Mail can stand down.

An old bloke who lives locally called me over when I was out dog walking.

It turned out that He had bought himself a brand new mail order rotavator for his allotment but try as he might, he couldn't get it to start.

"I've pulled that cord til I'm blue in the face." he said, (I didn't bother to mention that he was always blue in the face) "But the bloody thing won't have it."

I promised to pop round and take a look.

When I got there I didn't ask if he had put petrol in it but I checked all the same, then I made sure it was switched on, gave it a bit of choke and pulled the starter.

It didn't fire but a small red light near the oil filler flashed briefly to tell me what was wrong.

Many modern machines, especially those that are likely to be used by Joe public, have a sensor which prevents them from running if the oil level is low and most new machinery is shipped dry.

"Got any oil Norman?" I asked and he went into garage and reappeared with an opened 5ltr can of fully synthetic Castrol Magnatec 5W-30, which was overkill in this situation but it wouldn't hurt.

I poured about 3/4ltr into the rotavator, pulled the cord and she fired straight up.

Norman was overjoyed. "Thanks very much, you lot are always good with engines".

"You lot?" I asked.

"Yes, you Gyppo's" you can fix anything.

I knew Norman wasn't being rude or deliberately discriminatory, he was just old and hadn't moved quite as fast as the times.

A bit like me and gender definition really.

I've a couple of Trans friends (both going the opposite direction) & they've a tough time of it, so I'm a lot more sensitive to it than I was.

Unfortunately a lot of the current 'furore' about things is down to a right wing 'think tank' in the states sponsoring groups over here to stir the shit, when the UK was fairly easy going about things in general.

Do the same thing the opposite way and you would find yourself being extradited for something or other.

Case in point.

I noticed this quote in a piece on the BBC news app. I'm sure there there was no intent.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam is worried "the uptake in minority ethnic groups is not going to be as rapid or as high" compared to the white population.

What, are there no minority ethnic white people then?

OMG! I haven't had a beef paste barm cake for absolutely ages.

Did you ever have it "loose" in a paper from the butchers rather than "potted"?

Yes we did, also their own made pork scratchings. They were Gold Medal Black Pudding makers too and I remember going on line when I lived in London and buying a freezer box full of memories. Oddly I was looking at pie mash and liquor online earlier this week.

I wonder what we will miss from the 2000's in a few years time.

Pie and mash, yes. Liquor.. Leave it out, that stuff has no business on there.

It's like when I was in the good old US of A and ordered a chicken fried steak, (One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted BTW)

"Do you want gravy with that?"

I said, "Yes please" and he promptly poured some custard on it.
