Love Sean, and his little sister...

Was great fun playing with you last night Dan. Absolutely incred table banter after you include Phil Clark. You in all week for Grand Prix?

Played some £1/2 this evening. Profitable stuff. At first I thought I was just getting run over, levelling myself I think: for the first two hours or so every hand I opened I got 3bet, and it just felt like people recognised me as a 50/1 reg that they could bully. After I'd seen a few hands go to showdown, however, I realised this was probably not the case and my timing had just been hideous to begin with. I know this is poker, and we're always talking about "the long run," but I was pretty close to packing up and leaving the table with a very distorted view on the 1/2 game in general because of what had happened over a small sample size. I won't say I crushed the game, not by a long way, but after a few hours I'd adapted to the new bet sizing, become familiar with a few of the new players and felt very comfortable.

This was my introduction to Terry: the £4 straddle was on, Terry makes it £15, I call from the cutoff with and we go heads up the the flop. . Erm, bink?! Terry bets £20 I call. Turn is the Terry fires another £50 bullet, I call. The river comes the and my first thought was "that completes a bunch of stuff, how on earth do I win the max here?" Then Terry just set me in for my last £230. Nice one.

After running terribly in the 6max and busting within 30 minutes, then getting rivered for a decent pot at 50/1 on the dullest table ever by a man with the reddest face ever, my success at the 1/2 table means I only won £110 for the day, but it was fun all the same, and I won another pie (this time from Alex in flop games.) How d'you like dem apples?!

A wiseman once said that Sean had a 70% no show rate and a 99% lateness rate.

Confirmed won another pie flip. Running like Mitch.

Had a disgusting night on Sunday. I won a lot of small pots, but lost two big ones versus the same guy. I don't claim to understand how he runs so good, but several times this month he's cashed out £1k+ in these games. In the past I've run terribly against him but have a very good idea on how to play hands to win the max on the odd occasion where he fails to get there. The first one was a bit of a cooler where I flopped top and bottom and he flopped bottom two, the river pairing the wrong way to give him a full house. The second pot was pretty ridiculous: he takes a call, call, bet line so often, so the hand played out pretty perfectly. I raised he calls, comes , he checks I bet he calls. Turn is a which doesn't worry me at all, he checks I bet he calls. River is the and he snap bets £60 into £100~ which he does a very high percentage of the time (pretty close to 100% with a missed draw, regardless of texture, so this is the nut board run out for me to make the call) of course, this time he finds the , sigh.

Broke even (think I won around £20, actually, but effectively even) on the 50/1, but there was a seat in a decent 1/2 game, so I went over for another punt. Won a few hands without showdown, made one incorrect river call, then did the entire £400 stack on three clubs Two Diamonds with bottom set versus the top set of stato_1. It's one of very few times I've felt like I didn't have to go broke with a set, but it's probably fine to chalk it up to a bit of a cooler. That didn't feel too good, especially after the success of my last 1/2 shot, and the skill level of the other players at the table. Pretty unfortunate that I ran into that spot, but I guess I'd rather lose it to the octochamp than the octopi. He said, and I quote, "didn't feel too good about that, mate." Bless him.

Tonight's endeavours were much more successful. Won't say I played fantastically. I won a few small pots without showdown, but you don't have a £600 night on a 50/1 table without running a little bit golden. First hand I sat down, I get in the big blind. I check my option and flop the nuts on a rainbow board. I kept four players in the pot until the river completed a flopped straight draw, where the small blind donk leads half of his stack and I get the rest. Easy game. The very next hand I raise and check back a board. The turn comes a and we check again, allowing me to get there on the river and get value versus a poorly slow played flopped set of sixes. Weeeee.

Also I picked up dem aces a whopping SIX times tonight and got it in for stacks twice. What a life. I would quite happily run like this for the rest of my life.

Up £106 over the two days. Probably having been playing perfectly, but confidence is still high and still having a great 2012.

For those that are still interested in the design side of things, I've definitely slowed down since my burst of inspiration in December and starting to realise how much I actually suck compared to some designers I've been speaking with recently. However, here's the latest piece for you to feast your eyes on, I'm very happy with it but would love some feedback. [ AbsolutePress ]

Needless to say, I can't touch drugs anymore, or alcohol for that matter. So to anyone reading this who has been kind enough to offer me a drink over the years, I hope you will appreciate that I wasn't being rude or ungrateful. Smiley

At 0030 hours on the 22nd January 2012, I was refused entry to the Gala casino in Nottingham for being too drunk.
