Hi all! Ive just read a few of these posts and to lose weight is simple, you need to lose more calories than you put in (food & drink lol). Ive been 13half to 14 stones in weight for the last 20 years and its down to exercise. Do any sport: eg golf, run, cycle, gym, swim or just watch what you eat. Ive always played football and run 10k roughly a week and can run under 7 mins a mile comfotably. If you cant do this just run a mile a day at any pace then walk for 5mins rest then repeat or sprint for 20 seconds then rest and repeat five times. It might hurt at first but believe me when you get use to this you will get stronger and it will become fun. If you stay determined and dont give up the weight will fall off AND eventually you will be able to eat WHATEVER you want, trust me on this and remember exercise is to enjoy!!!!!!!  also if you go down the gym remember to do a few leg weight exercises to keep the muscles strong and dont forget to stretch before and after training   thumbs up

Not necessarily, your first point was the most important, balance calories in v calories out by however means that is you control weight. Like I said if it were only that simple........

Had a filling today, I can highly recommend it. My mouth is very numb and food keeps falling out as I chew.

Quite pleased with how the week has gone, decent week at the gym, not eating bread has made a big difference, and my hunger pangs in the evening have been manageable.

Tough session today.

Did 10 minute warm up on xtrainer followed by a 30minute circuit with trainer.

Finished off with 35 minutes on treadmill. Quite a slow 3.2km today in 32.15 but burned 450 cals.

Weekend off now after 5 straight days at gym.

Back in Monday with trainer and playing dtd Monday night so hoping my jeans a little better come Monday.

Claims to be able to make you burn x12 more calories when you exercise.

lolz, I'm gonna guess you've read that wrong. noone is ever going to make that claim for anything

Please don't ever doubt me sir. Bullshit detector is obv faulty. (obv the claim itself probs is redic)

can't believe you're questioning the bullshit detector. I've just looked at their website and it makes no claims to burn more calories when exercising. it says '12 times more calories for up-to one hour after exercise'

which may be what you meant of course but isn't how it reads

looks like it's basically just red pepper. you'd get the same effect a lot cheaper putting chopped chili on your food (obv that's no good if you don't like hot food). people have been doing that like for ever to aid weight loss, it's supposed to speed up your metabolism, dunno if it actually works though

^^^

English language problem. For those who had a proper schooling read 'if you exercise' for where i put 'when you exercise'.

I do not stand corrected as it still means the same to me.

Ok using the gucci excel calculator a friend sent me I have managed to get some exact numbers and surprisingly enough I wasn't too far off with how I was eating the last few days.

My BMR is 2139

At present I am sedentary so my requirement to maintain is 2567

In theory to lose 1lb a week I obviously drop to 2067 and for 2lbs 1567

...

It's a reasonable guide - but I wouldn't put all your faith in exact figures.

To actually work out your BMR isn't really possible without some pretty high tech stuff, and even then the balance of calories, fat, sugar etc. is what makes a difference rather than just the number of calories.

I'd read those figures and statistically I'd round them to an everyday target of 1500-2000; and if you have a 'bad' day make sure it doesn't go over 2500 - for example.

Yeah of course as I said I'll stick around that mark and then assess according to results. As long as I'm dropping weight I know that I'm in the right ballpark, if I'm not then I can cut some calories/carbs etc.

I've done quite a bit of research and spend quite a bit of time reading up on diets/nutrition/training on a forum so have learnt a fair bit about it. Very interesting stuff and I posted the ratios which I'm starting at below Smiley

Why the LOL? It really is that simple.

For some people it will happen faster or slower but you don't need to be a genius to work out that if you consume less than you use you simply MUST lose weight.

The mind is the most powerful part of your body, I 100% believe all weight-loss/exercise is down to your mindset.
