Unlucky day for the F1 bets.

- Vettel was spun on the opening lap, ruining his chances of the win.
- Ocon got the retirement he needed (Ricciardo), but wasn't able to find a way through into 6th. He finished just 0.879 seconds behind.

Extraordinary this. 11,000 odd complaints to Ofcom.

Seen on Twitter;

Cheesy

The 11,000 complaints were probably about her moaning.

Romain Grosjean disqualified for a technical infringement, which means Ocon does finish in 6th place. Doubt the bookies will pay out on it if disputed though.

James Vogl, who had a brief but spectacular time in the poker limelight, including a WSOP Bracelet, does not bet very often it seems, but when he bets, he bets big.

Just had my first sports bet since backing Petr Korda @ 14/1 to win Aussie Open in 1998. I know nothing about football. But #Spurs to win the premier league @ 12/1 just seems wayyy too long a price. Won 1st 3, thrashing United & have 9 World Cup semi finalists. What am I missing?

Back in 1967, this shop opened, & that was the birth of what eventually came to be known as Betfred.

Amazing photo in so many ways, it says so many things.

Look at that queue, for starters.

That was the last time every fixture was included in the Goals Galore promotion.

with their big play passing game (AJ, Ross has had a fine pre-season) and a defense that should be creating a lot of sacks (Lawson, Atkins etc) why wouldn't the Bengals be in contention too? the offensive line is the perennial bug bear but if its servicable enough (Price, Glenn added) then Mixon should create enough of a running game too

in a group with teams like the Broncos, Bears (awake now) who are sleepers that should be competing at 8-8+ this season to my mind

The Bengals will be more exciting to watch for sure. Passing game should include more short stuff - Mixon has been playing some WR sets - which will help their efficiency. There is a stigma with the Bengals about their clutch-ness, but addressing the OLine is certainly a plus.

Any reason why not to back both?

My concern is it will likely need 10 wins to win this division; 8-8 won't cut it. In the price of course.

Bengals positives - Looked awful for much of last year, but still finished 7-9. This despite having practically no O-Line. They've tried to address that over the summer and the pass blocking looked very good in pre-season. John Ross looks to be able to do what we thought he would do. He can take the top off defenses providing space for AJ Green underneath. They seem to have faith in Boyd in the slot. Tyler Eifert is alive and likely to be used in a Jimmy Graham red-zone way. They have a shutdown corner. The pass rush looks amazing, Carl Lawson is going to be a name everyone knows this time next year (I was going to tip o7.5 sacks for him on Redzone but they took the line down when they realised it was badly priced) As Tal has said, posting Mixon out wide looks like something they'll be doing a fair bit this year.

Negatives - The run blocking still doesn't look good, pre-season has been a mess in that department. It's a pretty tough schedule and the rest of the division are stronger than last year. They will still fail against the Steelers after being 14 points ahead, it's what they do.

Overall, at around 10/1 it's probably worth a little dabble, if you want to cover it a little I wouldn't be shocked to see the Steelers slip up against the Browns in week one, it's one the road against a team they should be beating easily. It's the kind of fixture they tend to overlook. Odds on Steelers to win the North will be better if it happens.

I think i like the Falcons on the money line for TNF, minus Wentz

https://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/atlanta-falcons-at-philadelphia-eagles/winner

I also like the Bengals at the Colts (big play passing game v a no name defense, Indy taking it easy with Luck first few weeks and a sorts of running game questions) getting points

https://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/cincinnati-bengals-at-indianapolis-colts/point-spread

any week one thoughts elsewhere?

Personally don’t think Bengals +3 will last so now is a good time to back them if you fancy it.

Yep, like the Bengals and the Rams lines. I don't like taking the Bengals because if they lose I lose twice being a fan, but it just looks too good. The Colts looked atrocious against the 49ers in week 3 of pre-season, the Bengals pass rush could really test Lucks shoulder!

Also like the Panthers as 3 point favourites against the Cowboys, but I think I've probably gone too far with my dislike of the Cowboys team this season so I'll probably give that a miss.

Surprisingly the Browns line keeps dropping, if it gets to Steelers -3 then I'd probably have a go on that. They have played the Steelers close and the Lev Bell news, I'd imagine is worrying bettors.

Denmark 20/1 tomorrow at Slovakia. Don’t know full story, player revolt or some nonsense.
