Mustafi - let's say there are 40 odd centrebacks playing in the Prem - really hard pushed to think of one he's clearly better than - ffs. Bournemouth performance was bad, this is even more woeful - so easy to play against if a team wants to stick the effort in against us. It migth take me 5 mins to get over this one

This really is disappointing and so piss poor.  We're moving in the right direction off the pitch but on the pitch, it's the same old crap.

You need to do what i've done and stop caring. I'll be interested again when Wenger leaves.

Seems fair when we openly tried to shift him last summer. When your strength in depth involves Mertesacker and Calum Chambers he's still somehow the best option haha #wengerforever

That's great news about Ozil.  He's been playing great recently (not well enough obviously but he's been pretty good)

only arsenal could sell the player who was worth £350k a week and retain the guy after he has bolted for £350k who isn't worth it.  Welcome to mid table next year and for the next decade AW fans.

£350k BEFORE tax.  That must work out after roughly £550k a week AFTER tax right?  GL arsenal getting your money's worth there as he ages and becomes even less interested now he has his pension sorted.

Never thought i would see the day when mid table EPL clubs paid half a million a week for a player on a long term contract past his peak years.  Imagine signing that cheque in 2022 for £550k a week?  how washed up with he be by then?  He must be roflmao today after training.

Don't the players sort their own tax out?

So he'll be taking home about a bottle?

£350k after tax means after tax.  Net salary.  The club has to gross up the figure to give him £350k a week net.  That would be close to £550k a week gross on my rough calcs.

think you are getting the wrong end of the stick here.

The ‘before tax’ was in relation to Ozil, as in his salary. He gets paid a gross of £350k then all the tax is sorted by him (£350k before tax). What he is left with with after paying all the necessary taxes is his salary after tax. As apposed to other players who manage to negotiate £xyz a week after tax, meaning the club are having to take into consideration all his other earnings and endorsements to what they are going to have to pay him to ensure he meets his contractual ‘net’.

Yes this is correct. Think you’ve confused people with the second paragraph of your original post. It’s been widely reported he’s getting £350k BEFORE tax, so not sure why you’re making reference to £550k after? As pointed out, he’ll end up with something closer to £200k after tax
