Only one race in but Newcastle looks a nice track. Big galloping look to it and seems fair based on first race. I suspect they will need to stay every yard of the trip there.

From the trainer, says they have targeted this race & after 2 moderate runs this season, its back down to a winning handicap mark & the softish ground will suit. |

Rarely post in this thread as it usually gives them the kiss of death ! However today i feel so strongly about this one its a must share post : 0 Off to Sandown tonight to watch this one hack up hopefully. Last race henry candys - Postbag currently around 10- 12/1 Ok so we are taking fitness on trust but this trainer usually can get the nicer types ready first time up. Our maiden win was after a break and reads very well indeed. Journey went on to run well in several group & listed races and is now rated some 30 pounds higher than our mark today. Surely we are well handicapped and relatively unexposed compared to most of the field tonight. Ok the last run on most likely unsuitable going toward the back end of last season wasnt so great but the horse wasnt given a hard time and i can forgive one bad run on bad ground with a big weight. Trainers only runner today along with the jockeys only mount too and he drives down from riding at haydock this afternoon. Just cant believe the 6-1 on sky for US Army Ranger, 5 places.
Has been talked of as their Derby horse for so long. Prob wasnt totally prepped for the trial at Chester, but still won. Its unbeaten, Ryan has chosen it. Bred for the trip etc etc.
I am still ringing round getting money on, with who I can.
Could be rather worse off tomorrow but feels like you just have to.

As work begins on trying to find some early Ascot value, I quite like the price on Balty Boys in the Hunt Cup.
4th in the race last year, well clear of the rest on the wrong side, he is now 3lbs lower. He spends a lot of time at Ascot and I suspect this will have been the plan for quite some time. He is a tidy 12lbs better of with GM Hopkins(last years winner) for a couple of lengths.
There is some 33-1 in two spots with Koral and 8ate8 which wont be around on the day. Looks enough to start the portfolio off with.
