'Training on' is a phrase that's rather gone out of fashion. Used to hear it all the time. High Estate was a classic example back in the day. It just doesn't seem to be a thing any more. Air Force One would be an obvious case this season.

Frankel seems to be passing on all his traits to his offspring. Keen-going, all at least good, and Fair Eva a potential superstar. Charlton just needs to keep a lid on her and find someone who's not going to ride her in the Guineas like Queally rode her old man. That lolride would have ruined some horses.

Dilum is the one which stays in my mind.

As a two year old he looked twice the size of his opponents.

Check out the youtube video of his Coventry Stakes win, beating Dr Devious who went on to win the follow years Derby.

They caught up with him physically and he was a shadow of the horse he looked.

Arazi, Celtic Swing absolute monsters at 2.  Sure they both won at 3, but never reached the heights.  Think Celtic Swing might even have won the French Derby, but it was a bit meh then.  Memory fail again, but on the phone and can't be starting again after fact checking.

Sure O'Brien has had another fairly recently that never trained on after becoming highest rated at 2, and what was that horse they just retired when it was 2.  Ridiculous.

Fair Eva a special filly, more like Frankel than Frankel ever was. 5-1 for the Guineas looks decent to me.

4Ksuited recently offered Fred a £25 Free Bet, after he came 2nd in the Wimbledon Tennis Celebration Comp.

There's not been much interest other than, iirc, lolzzStoke to win the EPL at a zillion to one.

He has now suggested we might consider sticking it on Fair Eva for next year's Guineas.

The only snag is the 5/1 has all gone, 4/1 most Firms, though there is a bit of 9/2 left with the beleaguered Wm Hill.

Any views?

Dave Nevison made a good point yesterday about ante-post racing.

Most years they used to go into the winter 5-1+ the field, but it never happens now. If Listen has the top-rated 2yo you know it'll be shorter than that.

If Fair Eva wins the Lowther, and she will if she runs, she could easily go below 2-1. In that case 4-1 would look decent, but on the flip side we'll be backing a filly who's run twice, and is yet to go in a Group 1, for a Classic that's ten months away.

How about a nice Luton-based flick? Jack Marriott to be top L2 scorer, 16-1 in a couple of spots.

Looks like a decent 'local special' sweat, and also has the merit of standing a chance to land. Other thoughts welcome - form an orderly queue please!!

Fair Eva doesn't train on, gets injured; Jack Marriott gets sold/injured &c &c and there's not much of a sweat. I'd suggest something like a season bet and as this is the racing thread how about Willie Mullins 2016/17 NH Trainers' Championship?

A 94% book of the front two across Satan and Joe. Harold Kirk's been buying in SW France as usual. And there's a chance that hitting the crossbar last year has given WPM a taste for it and he'll attack low-key Saturdays at Warwick or wherever from earlier in the year this time.

No good for a free bet, but should definitely be a good sweat.

Dandy Flame wins at Wolverhampton at an SP of 200-1 - only one horse, Equinoctial, has ever won at a bigger price in Britain

National rag day obviously today.  Lot of huge priced winners on the bags this afternoon as well.  Was it 1000/1 pre race on bf?

If anyone has anything for Galway for Thursday-Saturday, a good friend is going and I'd like to ensure he comes back with a euro or two, now that they're increasing in value by the day.

Much appreciated, folks.

http://www.attheraces.com/blogs/kevin-blake

This is a really good hard hitting article about the reality of closing bundles of accounts which long term any firm should be able to beat once the going gets tough and the tilt session arrives.  Great piece.  I have been saying the same for years.  Add on the fact even if they win long term sports betting loads of winning sports bettors have huge leaks casino wise and will donk off pissed up once a year.  I know some incredible cases of this over the years.  If they don't have the money in their account because you won't lay them a bet then they will never play your casino.

I personally smashed up the Uttox betting ring on Sunday in cash and if my behaviour/results on the day in question were on an online betting site the account would have been closed before the last race.  I gave one bookie all of my action all day long.  Old school (old enough to be Tikay's dad and probably been standing on course for as long as Tikay has been alive) and happy to lay a bet win lose or draw for real money no questions asked and i felt it was a 100/1 shot i ever got knocked back on any bet. At times he was happy to take the machine on for whatever reason.  Twice he laid me a substantial bet over the betfair price and didn't even move the price after the bet was laid.  Paid out with a smile on his face every time.  Every bet i had went off shorter than sp and bf sp, some way shorter.  Punters really should go racing nowadays.  In my experience you get bets on that you would have no chance of getting on in a shop or online for decent money.

Goodwood 4.20
Sprints are obv very tricky but 1/4 odds 1234 @ 14/1 with billys HARRY HURRICANE looks worth a bet e/w
was ul last year at meeting and is on an ok mark
won same grade race off only 2 lb lower at York
ground should be ok too, and james Doyle takes over.
Shorter on betfair
