Nigel Farage never oversteps the mark

Police investigate Farage vow to 'take knife to civil servants'

https://news.sky.com/story/police-investigate-nigel-farage-vow-to-take-knife-to-pen-pushers-11821630

Yes you do deserve laughing at for posting that nonsense.

why?

Why is it nonsense? Because you don't agree with it?

I have linked to news, that he is being investigated by police for his comments

No because he’s done nothing wrong and some people are basically being mischievous by reporting it. Was stabbing civil servants your first thought when you saw it? If you say yes your going to get laughed at harder....

If I am getting laughed at by you, Its a sure sign I am on the right lines.

A very odd person indeed. Really strange views you have.

So you do think he is encouraging people to stab civil servants then? If you really think so then it’s you that is odd. The Sunday sport sensationalist reference doesn’t sound too far off in this case.

In a video, Mr Farage says: "And when the president of the port of Calais and the boss of the port of Dover tell you they're 100% ready for Brexit in whatever form it comes, I suggest we listen to them and not the overpaid pen pushers in Whitehall who are not doing an neutral job.

"And once Brexit's done, we'll take the knife to them. Alright? Had enough of all of it. Had enough of all of it."

I gave Tighty some credit for being worldly wise and well educated, but if he has never heard the highlighted phrase in this context and really thought it meant actual physical violence, then I must be mistaken......either that or he is just causing a stir.

Hello I have never heard "take the knife to them" in this context

I may be in a minority, but clearly the police feel it needs to be looked at

I accept that verbal behaviour on all sides currently is very poor. All of them need to calm down and use more appropriate language.

there was an interesting exchange on Marr

Marr "Will you use civil contingency powers to suspend the Benn Act?"

Johnson “I’m not going to get into a hypothetical situation”.

Not a denial, it maybe the route they are thinking of to get us out on 31 Oct, and would likely lead to another court date?

Better go and look at civil contingency powers (reserved for national emergencies i think)

The Civil Contingencies Act provides the government with powers to create emergency regulations at times of national crisis and threats to safety (including wartime), emergencies that threaten “serious damage to human welfare”, or to the environment or the security of the UK

Or when there is an imminent threat of rioting.

So Doobs, you have presented your case. What do you want to happen next?

Suspect there is a big gap between what I want to happen and what can reasonably happen.

Small wishes; people stop referring to her as a tech entrepreneur when she really isn't.  Even the Daily Mail seems to realise this is all a bit odd and Johnson's promotion of her/her business was inappropriate.  I don't really care whether she was just a friend or their relationship was something else.  Johnson has lots of previous for the something else, and I don't think it matters much.

What I'd like to happen is we see the back of Johnson/Cummings and we have a more sensible discussion with/on Europe from all sides of the political spectrum.  Johnson is not the only political person, on either side*, I'd like to see the back of.

or both sides when it comes to Corbyn!

I just think it is a slip of the tongue and he was talking about getting rid of civil servants who  don't perform their jobs well.

It is all a bit rich when he has clearly been collecting massive amounts of money for his job as an MEP, where he seems to nothing much other than rocking up and insulting his hosts for a few minutes every month or so.

Sadly its the only way to get heard.

Lets be honest, how many other MEPs can you name?

No wonder we have such little impact in the workings of the EU.

I can name less than a handful.

I don't think your last statement is true though.   There was a lot of British input into the Insurance legislation.   I think it is a big myth that we have no impact.   We have an impact in line with the size of our economy in Europe.  I'd say we punched above our weight on Insurance, which shouldn't be a surprise given that we were leading the way in the way things are done.

I'd say having a big loudmouth standing up and slagging everyone off is not a positive for Europe.  It really isn't the only way to get heard, taking part in consultations, getting people in the right places, getting on top of the detail and arguing your point effectively work too.  I can't remember too many people standing up and saying you are all twats or it is my way or the highway when Insurance legislation was discussed.  Apparently in this alternate universe, we can't even negotiate with Europe if we aren't threatening to screw ourselves over.

All well and good but its not the real world over there.

Unelected(to a large degree)top table folk, making decisions they aren't really accountable for , and lets be honest we have seen just as much slagging off of the UK, by Junker etc.

Javid made to look like an amateur on Breakfast this morning by Louise, who is hardly cutting edge.

She kept asking him about the crazy claims of knee touching 20 years ago, which he refused to comment on, but instead got dragged into talking of McDonalds dreams of murdering Maggie.

V poor, standards from BBC and lack of prep and discipline from Javid.

If remainer MPs happily tolerate a speaker plagued by very recent complaints of harrassment and bullying for their perception of the greater good;  should leaver MPs be happy to tolerate a 20 year old thigh squeeze from the now PM.

Should they go as far as the latest prospective leader of the GNU, Beckett, and openly state their position ?
