Seems like the interesting bets will be along the lines of 'how bad is this for Labour?' and 'how good will this be for the Lib Dems'?

Heidi Allen is stepping down

https://heidiallen.co.uk/heidi-allen-mp-letter-to-south-cambridgeshire-constituents/

Her letter is very good.  She seemed to be very well thought of by many of her constituents and people on all sides of the house, and could easily have won that seat (It was strongle remain too).

It seems like we are getting to a stage where several of the decent MPs will have left or been pushed out.

You couldn't make it up.......seriously you couldn't.

Gov will pull Bill (stop election)...... if amendments for 16/17 yrs and votes for EU citizens get passed.

No one is going to believe this movie when it's made.

Yep....you only have to spend some time looking at certain MPs on Twitter to see what absolute crap they have to put up with. Shocking.

Didn't they pull the Boris bill when it became clear that amendments could be made to it that they couldn't control?

It is a funny World, when Labour want an election, the conservatives don't and vice versa.  That flowchart is going to have to be changed again.

The Bill as it stands is - lets have an election
This amendment would make it - let's change the representation of the people act and significantly extend the franchise.

It's not that it's necessarily a 'wrong' idea - but it's a massively different proposal. It would be something that should at the very least have many layers of research and many days of debate before it was voted on.

also two different arguments

16/17 year olds is one thing, as many cons and pros as discussed recently

Resettled EU citizens another, obv pro remain and anti leave so you can see who would argue for and against.

though do i recall that Irish citizens can vote in our elections already?

I know the consensus view is

Boris wins majority (polls are saying this), votes through Brexit in Parliament in Jan, leave Jan 31st

May entered the 2017 campaign 17% up in polls, ran a dire campaign with a controversial manifesto, Corbyn's policies were popular and well campaigned and we know what happened.

If we say just for a moment that post a December election there is another hung parliament, which i suggest is quite possible as no one has any idea about Con losses to BXP, Scotland, Lib Dem winning marginals in remain areas etc etc

and nothing can still get through Parliament...what then?

All sensible parties have moved heaven and earth to avoid no deal so far...so we begin to seriously discuss a second referendum? revoke is on the agenda without a referendum? or we just go into permanent flextensions?

Twitter...

Here's the latest on the amendments on extending franchise:

Clerks advised they should not be selected. Lindsay Hoyle expected to accept their advice

BUT

They will almost certainly be tabled in the Lords tomorrow, where the Speaker does not select amendments...

Agree, would seem crazy to try and implement this at this exact time
